Abstract: By electrods and strain gauge recording effects of stimulation and damage of appetite centers(LHA and VMH)on gastrointestinal activity were studied enhancement of gastrointestinal activity can all be induced by stimulation of LHA or VMH, but latant period of VMH response shorter than LHA, persistant period longer than LHA, stimulation intensity is lower than LHA stimulating VMH, amplitute and frequency of motility are increased;stimulating LHA after VMH damaged, electrisity and motility are enhanced slightly and tension is reduced obviously. This study suggests that VMH is relatively independence to gastrointestinal activities.Intact VMH is importance for maintenance normal gastrointestinal activity.
