Repeated exposure to acute hypoxia was performed on pentobarbital-anesthetized and coffeine-excited mice. The average tolerance time for first run in these two groups was 42 and 9 min, which was significantly longer and shorter than that of control group(13 min)respectively. The tolerance time of second, third and forth run in anesthetized and excited mice was 1.6 , 1.8 and 2 times longer than that of their own first run respectively. However, The results of both groups were all significantly shorter than that of control group which were 3, 5 and 7 times. These results indicate that the animal's anaesthesic and excited states may increase and decrease tolerance of the animals to first run of hypoxia respectively. However, the tolerance or adaptation to subsequent repeated hypoxia is markedly decreased in both groups.

Descending segments of the tectospinal projections in the spinal cord were retrogradely traced by unilateral injection of HRP into different levels of the spinal cord, including the cervical, thoracic and lumbar segments.Experimental results showed that the labeled neurons in the superior colliculus were constantly seen in those animals, in which the upper cervical segments(C2,3)were injected. No labeled neurons could be found in those cases injected in the cervical enlargement, the thoracic and lumbar segments. All labeled neurons were distributed in the stratum griseum intermediale and the stratum griseum profundum of the caudolateral parts on the side contralateral to the injection, and more labeled neurons were seen in the stratum griseum profundum. This study have suggested that tectospinal tracts project to the upper cervical segments.

CT-HRP has been injected in the medial pterygoid rnuscle in adult rat(200~250 g body weight)to identify the cell of origin for the muscle endings. The labelled motoneurons in the ipsilateral trigeminal motor nucleus were observed. The motor neurons labelled with CT-HRP were approximately distributed throughout trigeminal motor nucleus. In the rostral level of the nucleus the labelled neurons were distributed in ventral-lateral part, in the middle level in lateral and ventral-lateral part and in the caudal level in lateral part. The size of the labelled motoneurons were estimated by measuring their diameters. The average long diameter of labelled cell bodies was 30. 85±6.71μm, ranging from 16~52μm. The average short diameter of labelled perikaryons was 19. 18±5.20 μm, ranging from 8~32μm. These results have been discussed.

By electrods and strain gauge recording effects of stimulation and damage of appetite centers(LHA and VMH)on gastrointestinal activity were studied enhancement of gastrointestinal activity can all be induced by stimulation of LHA or VMH, but latant period of VMH response shorter than LHA, persistant period longer than LHA, stimulation intensity is lower than LHA stimulating VMH, amplitute and frequency of motility are increased;stimulating LHA after VMH damaged, electrisity and motility are enhanced slightly and tension is reduced obviously. This study suggests that VMH is relatively independence to gastrointestinal activities.Intact VMH is importance for maintenance normal gastrointestinal activity.

In this paper the method of gas chromatographic(GC)analysis for eicosapentaenoic acid(EPA)and docosahexaenoic acid(DHA)in the anchovy oil was reported. The polyunsaturated fatty acids(PUFA)in the fish oil were saponified with 0.5 mol/L NaOH-CH3OH, and esterified with BF3-CH3OH for GC analysis. The quantity was determined by internal standard method with TSA-M as a reference. In five determinations, the average rate of reclamation for EPA-M and DHA-M was 89.86%, 89.78% respectively. The variation coefficient for EPA-M was 0.80%, and for DHA-M was 0.64%. The proposed method is simple, rapid and reproducible.

The mice were divided into ten groups. They were sacrificed on 1 st, 5 th, 10 th, 15 th, 20th, 25 th, 30 th, 35 th, 40 th day after birth, and one group was sacrificed after maturation. The murine ovaries were studied by morphological and histochemical methods. On day 1 after birth, there were many primorial follicles and a few stroma in the ovaries. After day 5, follicles began to develop: follicular cells became columnar instead of being simple squamous. The follicular theca was formed on day 10, and follicular cells developed into 2 or 3 layers, named membrana granulosa. Zona pellucida formed. Granulosa cell's mitotic devisions result in six layers of cells, and interstitial glands appeared. From day 20 to maturation, all of the developed interstitial glands, secondary follicles, and atresic follicles could be found. 3-β-HSDH in the theca interna were showed on day 10, then appeared in membrana granulosa, interstitial glands and corpora luteum. Moreovers the action of 3-β-HSDH in the theca interna and interstitial glands increased with the growth. The distribution of lipiole was as same as that of 3-β-HSDH. Alkaline phosphatase locatized in theca interna on day 10 then increased gradually. LNAase, acidic phosphatase and glycogen distributed very wide in overies, and action increased with the growth.

This article reports the method of skin overlay to observe the influence of the tendon repair after burn. The results show that owing to the normal skin tissue overlay at the surface layer of the tendon, the local region gets better blood circulation. This leads to the decreaee of degree of injury and increase of regeneration capacity. The skin overlay is proved to be beneficial to tendon repair after burn.

Oxyntomodulin(OM)consists of glucagon and KA8 peptide. We have demonstrated that KA8 peptide administrated by intravenous infusion could inhibite the secretion of gastric acid. Now OM and KA8 peptide were given by iv infusion or icv to rats to observe the effects on blood sugar regulation and the secretion of gastric acid. As compared with control group, we found that 1. Neither iv OM nor iv KA8 peptide had no effect on the concentration of blood sugar, insulin and glucagon. 2. The raise of blood sugar and decline of insulin concentration were observed when OM but not KA8 peptide given by icv(lug). 3. No effect was found on the secretion of gastric acid offten when OM and KA8 peptide was given via icv. Based on these results, we conclude that KA8 had the effect on the secretion of gastric acid with peripheral administration. While no effect was observed with KA8 and OM given into cerebral ventricles. There was no effect on blood sugar regulating hormone with KA8 and OM administered peripheraly, while OM may elevate the blood sugar when given into cerebral ventricles.

KA8 peptide is a C-terminal octapeptide(30~37)of oxyntomodulin 1~37. We previously reported that it could inhibit gastric acid secretion of rat induced by pentagastrin, cold-restraint and intracisteral TRH obviously. In our experiment ,KA8 peptide was injected to rats at a dose of 30 μg/kg body weight or 60 μg/kg body weight before 1 mL absolute ethanol was given to the animals through a gastric tube. The results showed that KA8 peptide could decrease ethanol-induced gastric erosion significantly, compared with control(P<0.01). It suggests that KA8 peptide could have cytoprotective effect on gastric mucosa, and it might be beneficial in the treatment of a variety of diseases in which gastric mucosal injury is present.

Thirteen patients with newly diagnosed hyperthyroidism were treated with propylthiouracil.Heart function and plasma atrial natriuretic peptide(ANP), plasma renin activity(PRA)and angiotension Ⅱ(Ang Ⅱ)levels of the patients were measured by echocardiography and specific radioimmunoassay, before treatment and during treatment at third month and sixth month. After treatment, heart rate of the patients were significantly decreased(P<0.001), body weight were increased(P<0.01), cardiac output, cardiac index, peak flow velocity of mitral valve, aortic valve and main pulmonary artery were decreased(P<0.05),thyroid hormone became normal. With hyperdynamic circulating state improving, plasma ANP level was significantly decreased(P<0.01)and Ang Ⅱ and PRA were increased(P<0. 01). These results suggest that propylthiouracil is an effective drug in improving heart and endocrine functions in patients with hyperthyroidism.

Thirty elderly men with old myocardial infarction(OMI)were treated with an androgenic preparation, sustanon 250. The result showed that plasma atrial natriuretic polypeptide(ANP)level and serum testosterone level were elevated significantly(both P<0.001)and estradial/testosterone(E2/T)ratio was reduced(P<0.05)after 3 weeks of sustanon 250 injections, indicating that sustanon 250 can elevate plasma ANP level and redemy relative ANP inadequacy, as well as improve sex hormone disorder in elderly men with OMI.
