Based on the anatomic observation and measurement of the extracranial section of facial nerve taken from 88 sides cadavers, the facial nerve is divided into two parts:anteromandibular and posteromandibular portions. Making clear that: ① The location,course and neighboring relationship of the main trunk, the primary branches-the temporofacial and cervicofacial,and the branches of intra-glandular and extra-glandudar sections. ②The relationship between parotid duct and superobuccal and inferobuccal branches.③ The practical marks with which to seek for the extracranial section of facial nerve.

The optical density measurement of the succinate dehydrogenase histochemical staining sections of ischemic myocardium with 680 nm of spectrophotometer was made. The result indicated that if the duration of ischemia was more than 15 min,the enzymatic activity showed prominent decrease.This method raised definitely the diagnostic sensitivity for succinate dehydrogenase activity as compared with the mere morphological method.

We had carried out the test of acute toxicity, accumulative toxicity and mutagenic assays of Mai Tong LingⅡ.All the results were negtive. But, whether it can be used for a long-term treatment still needs to be determined. Thus we carried out a study of sub-chronic toxicity test(the 90-day feeding test).The results showed that in the parameters of growth ratio,coefficieny of food utilization,routine and specific tests of blood, OW/BW ratio and pathological examinations,there were no significant statistical differences between the experimental animals and controls,This study shows that long-term use has no ill-effects to the rats.

In order to understands the regularity of early myocardial ischemic arrhythmia and the relationship between ischemic and repurfusion arrhythmias on rats,SD rats were studied. Our conclusion is that: ①There are two phases arrhythmias(IVA and DVA)on 62.3 % myocardial ischemic rats;② Repurfusion arrhythmia was influenced by ischemic time and ③there is some relationship between ischemic arrhythmia and repurfusion arrhythmia.

The tension of the vascular smooth muscle related with endothelium.two types of vascular strip were prepared from thoracic aorta of the rat. The vascular endotheium was intact in one group and removed in the other. The two types of preparations were superfused respectively with norepinephrine(1 μmol/L). The tension increment of vascular strip with intact endothelium was smaller than with removed endothelium.After washing away NE,the rate of the tension decrement with intact endothelium was more than that with removed endothlium.The two types of vascular strips after bathed in 10 % alcohol for one hour,were superfused respectively with NE,the tension increment with intact endothelium was more marked than without endothelium(P<0.05). Our data suggest that the active substance delivered by vascular endothelial cells not only influences the contraction process of smooth muscle,but also influences its the vasdilator process,and proteced the tension of vascular smooth muscle.

We observed that Mycobacterial polysaccharides(MPS)had effects on the mice's leucocytopenia caused by cyclophosphamide(CP). We injected CP to the mice's abdominal cavities to make a leucocytopenia model. In experimental groups,the second day after the injection with CP,the mice were given MPS with 5 or 25 μg/mouse.d^-1 for four days and the leukocytes were examined every other day.In comparison with the control groups,the experimental mice had a lower rate of leucocytopenia and recovered rapidly from it. The data reveals that MPS have functions on inhibiting the mice's leucocytopenia caused by CP and on promoting the recovery of leukocyte.

The contents of amino acids in hemolymph of Anopheles arthropohagus were determined by LK 13-4400 type of amino acid analyzer. The hemolymphs of both newly emerged female mosquitoes andthose 5 days after taking blood contained the same 17 kinds of amino acids. The contents of 15 kinds of amino acids in hemolymph of the mosquitoes after sucking bled were decreased and less than those newly emerged mosquitoes. The results indicated that the amino acids in hemolymph of mosquito were related to the development of the ovary of mosquito.

Using calcium phosphate precipitation technique,we transformed in vitro NIH cell line successfully with human papilloma virus(HPV)type 16 DNA. Further analysis showed that the transformed cells possessed refractile,roundish,pile-up growth morphology,and decrease of anchorage dependence(growth in semi-fluid agar),serum dependence, and density dependence.Southern blot hybridization of transformed cell DNA indicated that HPV-16 DNA was incorporated into NIH 3T3 cells. The results indicate that HPV-16 DNA is responsible for the transformation of NIH 3T3 cells.

Living vestibular hair cells(VHCs)were separated from vestibular sensory epithelium of guinea pig by micromanipulation.TypeⅠand typeⅡcells could be identified. Although their form varied :cell body of variable roundness,and neck and cilia of different lengths,they have a round basal portion containing the nucleus in its normal position. Cell viability was verified by dyeing of 1% neutral red solution. Above 90% isolated VHCs could maintained their shape and viability for 1h at the room temperature.Morphological criteria for VHC viablity were presented based on published cochlear outer hair cell morphological studies. This technique can contributed to investigations on the physiology of mammalian vestibular cells,and on the mechanisms of some diseases.

30 cases of esophageal cancerous tissues and 4 cases of esophageal epithelium from autopsy of other diseases were marked immunohistochemically with lectin PNA,PSA and DBA. The results showed that negative staining reaction of PNA and PSA appeared in the 4 cases of autopsy esophageal epithelium and positive DBA staining reaction appeared in these cases.Where as in malignant changes,the PNA and PSA reaction turn to positive and DBA staines declined or even disappeared. It is explained that the changes of cellular glycoconjugate can occur in malignant state.In addition, positive saining reaction of PNA and PSA appeared in the 7 cases of normal esophageal epithelium which near the cancer.It is conjectured that the changes of glycoconjugate of esophageal epithelium cells are occured before the apperance morthlogyical changes.The relationshipbetween the location of lectin receptors and the degree of differentiation or infilitrativing growth of tumors was discussed.

T cell subsets in peripheral blood of 35 chronic patients with hepatitis C have been investigated through monoclonal antibody and APAAP assay. The results showed that the percentage of OKT3⁺ cells in patient group with hepatitis C had no difference and OKT₄⁺,OKT₈⁺ cells and OKT₄/OKT₈ ratio were lower than that of the control group.The percentage of OKT₄⁺ cells and OKT₄/OKT₈ ratio in HBsAg negative patient group with hepatitis C were significantly lower than that of the control group. No difference was observed in the percentage of OKT₈ cells. The percentages of OKT₄⁺,OKT₈⁺cells in HBsAg positive patient group with hepatitis C were significantly lower in comparison with control group and chronic active patient group with hepatitis B, but the OKT₄/OKT₈ ratio showed no difference. The percentage of OKT₈⁺ cells was significantly lower as compared with HBsAg negative patient group with hepatitis C. These results indicated that T cell subsets in peripheral blood in patients with hepatitis C were obviously out of balance and the percentage of OKT₈⁺ cells was significantly lower in hepatitis C patients co-infected with HBV.

A Report of 24 Cases of Diabetic Nephropathy Treated with Piperazine Ferulate

24 patients with diabetic nephropathy were treated with piperazine ferulate. Changes in the amount of proteinuria within 24 h, the levels of serum creatine(Scr)and blood urea nitrogen(BUN)and hemorrheological parameters were measured. After 3 months'treatment,the amount of proteinuria decreased from 3.84±l.70 to l.80±0.89 g/24 h(P<0.01. Among them six cases of nephrotic syndrome were found,and their proteinuria decreaced from 6.48t±0.84 to 2.42±0.71 g/24 h(P<0.001),Scr levels(μmol/L)were reduced from 281±183 to 185±104(P<0. 05),whole blood viscosity levels were reduced from 6.64±0.42 to 6.18±0.51, plasma viscosity levels from 2.48±0.17 to l.96±0.11(P<0.05~0.01,and plasma fibrinogen levels(g/L)decreased from 4.68±l.17 to 3.95±0.98(P<0.05). It was shown that the effects of decreasing whole blood and plasma viscosity,lowering fibrinogen level,decreasing proteinuria and improving renal function were noted after treatment with this medication. Based on the above observation,piperazine ferulate has certain effects in the treatment of diabetic nephropathy.

Effects of Age, Sex and Heart Rate Alterations on Systolic and Diastolic Timing Intervals During Cardiac Cycle in Normal Subjects: A Combined M-Mode and Doppler Echocardiographic Study

To investigate the effects of age, sex and heart rate alterations on systolic and diastolic timing intervals, M-mode and Doppler echocardiography were performed in 160 healthy volunteers aged 21 to 97 years,and 36 of them were paced from the right atrium steady to 90, 120 and 160 bearts per minute(BPM). It was found that age-related hemodynamic changes during diastole are characterized by a prolongation of isovolumetric relaxation time(IVRT),A₂E interval and atrial filling period(AFP)(r=0.946, 0.835 and 0.875, P all <0.01), decreased slow filling period(SFP)and the lesser proportion of diastolic filling period(DFP)in the cycle length(r=-0.703 and -0.812, P<0.05 and 0.01). It was also found that with increased heart rate, pre-ejection period(PEP), left ventricular ejection time(LVET)and A2E interval became an increasingly greater proportion of cycle length(r=0.970,0.963 and 0.874, P all <0.01), while DFP occupied a lesser proportion of the cycle length(r=-0.849, P<0.01); Rapid filling period(RFP)and AFP occupied a greater proportion and SFP occupied a lesser proportion of the DEP.With further increase in heart rate,merging of the RFP and AFP occurs. There were no significant differences between men and women in systolic or diastolic timing intervals.These findings suggested that age and heart rate-related physiologic changes should be taken into consideration when evaluating systolic and diastolic timing intervals.

Evaluation of the PTCA Effect by Tomography Imaging of Exercise Stress Myocardial Nuclide-Perfusion

We performed stress and rest myocardial perfusion tomography imaging in 31 patients before and after percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty(PTCA). The median time intervals before and after PTCA were 7.5 and 47.5 days respectively. There were 25 males and 6 females. Mean lesion grade pre-PTCA was 82.58%±16.04 % and mean residual lesion grade post-PTCA was 17.7%±6.21%. No major complications were encountered. Myocardial perfusion tomography imaging showed 26 cases with myocardial ischemia reverted to normal or approximately normal after PTCA. In 90.3% of the patients exercise stress was more improved than before PTCA.We conclude that exercise stress myocardial tomography imaging is a noninvasive and reliable method for the assesssment of PTCA therapeutic effect.
