Abstract:

23 rabbites were wounded on the back. Each one had 3 wounds that were treated separately with chitin and Yunnan Baiyao.Microscopically, results showed woundtreated with chitin had more macrophages and myofibroblasts than those treated with Yunnan Baiyao and the empty control group Thus healing of wound was advanced and woundwas contracted. We sugest that myofibroblasts containing actin had the effect for wound contraction and the basal cells of squamous cell epithelium containing actin migrated toward the wound and finally covered the wound.

Key words: chitin, granulation tissue, myofibroblasts
