Abstract: Monoclonal antibodies(Mabs)and polyclonal antisera (Pabs) were used for characterizing the LP Score of 8 H.alvei strains :①Two anti-KDO Mabs (clone 14,20) detected α-linked KDO side chain in several(6, 5) but not all of the LPS. ②Mabs and Pabs specific for the R1~R4 core of E.coli did not react to the LPS core of H.alvei. ③The Mab (WN1222-5) specific for the Rc chemistry core of E.coli reacted strongly with all LPS of H.alvei tested. We conclude that the LPS of H.alvei contains both eiptopes (α-linked KDO side chain,Rc corel similar to those occurring in E.coli, but they are different in the core (R1~R4)types.
