Abstract: Using electrode and highly sensitive strain sensor to record alterations of gastroelectric activity and gastric motility, during conventional (CV) rats and germ free (GF) rats were conducted. We have made a comparative study and analysis on the gastric electro-machanic activity of the GF and CV rats.As compared with CV rats, frequency of fast wave was decreased in GF rats, rhythm and amplitute of slow wave and gastric motility were reduced and declined significantly.Gastroelectric activity was obviously reduced.Gastric motility remained weak.Sensitivity of stomach to some drugs also was reduced. It mainly shown that latency of activity was prolonged, duration of which was decreased and amplitute of which reduced significantly. It suggested that there may be some changes of morphology and physiologic function in GF rats.Institute of Laboratory Animal Science, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences
