    Two kinds of cationic liposomes, lipofectin and lipofectaMINE, were used for transfecting reporter gene LacZ into primary cultural rat muscle cells.The cells were prepared by trypsinization of new-born SD rat musele.The reporter gene was the gene ofβ-galactosidase (LacZ) and from a plasmid, pRSVLacZ.The results showed that both lipofectin and lipofecta MINE could transfer exogenous DNA of LacZ into cultured muscle cells which expressed the reporter gene by 20%.This suggested that the transfection method by using cationic liposome was quite effective for gene transfer into eukaryotic cells.

    It was the study on the tracing observation in different living periods after the hippocampal cells in the neonatal rat was damaged after subcutaneous injection with monosodium glutamate (MSG).Injuries were classified into two types.The results were as follows: ①The cell swelling in acute period.Injuries of cell mainly presented in the rats of 11 days.The nuclei was swellen,and the cell degenerated even into death.There were swelling in varying degrees in the pyramidal cells of CA1~CA4 region,especially in that of CA1 region.In CA4 region, as well as swelling, some cells appeared pyknostic.Dentatus gyrus neurons had no significant change in this period.②Delayed cell pyknosis.Nuclei contraction,chromoplasm congulation,cytoplasm contraction and aridity dark for the stain,cell pyknosis and death were observed in CA2~CA4 region of rats of 52 days and 100 days.The activity and number of pyknosis granule cells in the inner layers increased apparently near the door of dentatus gyrus.Although the phenomenon of pyknosis could be observed scarcely in CA1 region, the number of dorsal cells decreased significantly.

    This experiment purified the specific antigen of injured endothelial cells, and then prepared corresponding antibody with immunological methods,and linked it to urokinase.In the animals their vascular endothelial cells were made experimental injuried, we treated them separately with the antibody which was linked to urokinase, simple specific antibody.These animals were morphologically observed after they were killed, the results show that there was marked difference of the degree of thrombosis within blood vessels,it was notable in the former and lightly in the latter.This method can prophylactic thrombosis and can not induce secondary hemorrhage.

    Using electrode and highly sensitive strain sensor to record alterations of gastroelectric activity and gastric motility, during conventional (CV) rats and germ free (GF) rats were conducted.We have made a comparative study and analysis on the gastric electro-machanic activity of the GF and CV rats.As compared with CV rats,frequency of fast wave was decreased in GF rats, rhythm and amplitute of slow wave and gastric motility were reduced and declined significantly.Gastroelectric activity was obviously reduced.Gastric motility remained weak.Sensitivity of stomach to some drugs also was reduced.It mainly shown that latency of activity was prolonged,duration of which was decreased and amplitute of which reduced significantly.It suggested that there may be some changes of morphology and physiologic function in GF rats.Institute of Laboratory Animal Science, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences

    Gangliosides are glycosphingolipds containing sialic acid.They have been demonstrated to play important roles in biological functions,such as cell growth,differentiation,malignant transformation, membrane-mediated transfer of information.We have separated several major gangliosides from pig brain and rat brain by capillary electrophoresis (CE).Enhancement of selectivity and efficiency of separation were obtained by using 2.5 mmol/L phosphate buffer containing 15 mmol/L a-cyclodextrin.We also studied the factors which effect on the separation of the samples.The results indicate that the methods of using capillary electrophoresis can successfully separate gangliosides GM1,GM3,GD1a,GD1b, GT1b from pig brain and GM1,GD1a,GT1b, from rat brain.

    A number of novel 1, 3, 5-thiadiazine-2-thiones have been synthysized using benzylamine reacted with potassium hydroxide,carbon disulphide, formaldehyde and various amino acids.The structures of compounds have been elucidated by UV, IR, 1H-NMR and elementary analysis.The activity of the compounds against 6 bacterias and 2 fungus was tested in vitro.All compounds were found to be potent against the gramnegative and less potent against the gram-positive and fungus.

    The NK and endogenous LAK activity and the numbers of NK cell were observed in 47 cancer patients and in 13 healthy volunteers.The results revealed that the levels of the three indications were significantly lower in the patients than in the normal controled group(P<0.001) and the decline were conspicuous in the patients with late stage cancer and distant metastases.Treatment by mycobacterial polysaccharides (MPS) for two weeks has enhanced the levels of these indications in the patients after operation.

    Sixty BDF1 female mice were divided into two groups: estrus cycle and pregnancy (day 4~10).The endometrium of mice were studied by immunohistochemistry.The proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) labelling index (%) was studied throughout estrus cycle and pregnancy.The results suggested that:①In estrus the number of PCNA labelling cells was the highest.These cells were 21.8% of all kinds of endometrium cells.They distributed mainly over superficial epithelium (60% of superficial epithelium).There was a slight increase of the PCNA cell in the disestrus (9.4% of all kinds of endoinetrium cells).They also distributed mainly over superficial epithelium (26% of superficial epithelium).②In pregnancy the PCNA labelling cell distributed mainly over upper decidua.They were the highest (14% ) in decidua of 9 th day of pregnancy.

    PCR was used to detect human papilloma virus (HPV) type 16, 18 in pathrological specimens from female lower genital tract and in semimal fluid and urine from their sexual partners.The results showed that the positive rate in female pathological specimen, seminal fluid and urine of their sexual partner's were 57.6%,57.6% and 18.1% for HPV16 and 30.3%,12.1 % and 3.0% for HPV18 respectively.The coincidence rate for HPV16 and HPV18 in female pathological tissues and seminal fluid were 73.6% and 30% repectively.Our results proved that when females are infected with HPV,their sexual partners may have high probability to have an insidious infections, indicating the possibility of seminal transmission of HPV.Our results provide important significance for epidemiological study on HPV infection and for prophylaxis and early treatment.

    The acute toxicity and mutagenic assays of DSP were carried out.The results showed that the LD50 by the oral route in mice and rats were both more than 600 mg/kg.Micronucleus test of mice bone marrow.Ames test and sperm abnormalities test in mice were all negative and mutagenicity of DSP was not discovered.

    Rabbit ear chambers were used to observe the effect of anisodamine on microcirculation.Twenty seconds after anisodamine was injected via ear marginal venules, the microvessels began to distend, at the sametime, quicker blood flow and larger amplitude of spantaneous vasomotion was observed, but the frequency was not obviously changed.All of these changes reached their summits at 40 seconds.Fourty seconds after stopping injection, the microvessels began to contract, accompanying by lessening in amplitude of spontaneous vasomotion and blood folw.All of these changes returned to baseline at 90 seconds after injection.

    The concentration of atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP), plasma renin activity (PRA) and angiotensin Ⅱ (Ang Ⅱ) were measured in 40 patients with acute myocardial infarction at the time of admission, and the first 2, 24, 72 hours and one week after venous thrombolysis.20 normal subjects were control.It was found that ANP, PRA and Ang Ⅱ were significantly higher at admission in patients with AMI when compared to normal controls, and reached peak value at the first 2 hours after thrombolysis.ANP was significantly higher at the first 2 hours after thrombolysis than at admission in 28 patients with reperfusion,and there was no difference in 14 patients without reperfusion.There were no differences among different cardiac function and different region of infarction in patients with AMI in plasma ANP level.

    This paper reported the clinical characteristics of large bowel polyps in 146 elderly cases (>60 ages) as follows.①There was a high incidence of large bowel polyps in elderly patients with intestinal diseases, accounting for 24.3% of the cases examined by colonofibroscopy in the same periods.②The most common histologic types of polyps were inflammational polyp (76.0%), large bowel adenoma (18.3%) and hyperplastic polyp (5.7%).③The incidence of complex polyps was 30.1%,and the polyps were distributed in more than two sections of colon.④The malignant change rate of adenoma was as high as 26.9%.

    Campared between the FSRT and HSD for the lethal effects and the inhibiting action on BT325 in vitro.The results show FSRT' s lethal effects in same as HSD' s 5×109~4.3×107/L; 5×109~4.0 ×107/L respectively (P>0.05 ).As to the inhibiting action, the former is better than the latter, MTT OD 0.006± 0.001; 0.160 ±0.020, respectively (P<0.01 ).Demonstrate that the lethal effects of FSRT and HSD for tumor is same, the FSRT's tumor inhibiting action is better than the HSD's in vitro.
