Abstract: Substance P(SP),vasoactive intestinal peptide(VIP), calcitonin gene related peptide(CGRP)levels in all layers of gastric antrum in experimental spleen deficiency(SD)rats were measured by radioimmunoassys(RIA).The results show that: The ir-SP,ir-VIP,ir-CGRP levels in gastric antrum of SD rats were significantly lower than that of control. The reduced percent is ir-SP>ir-VIP>ir-CGRP. In spontaneous recovery cases, ir-SP level was still less than control, while ir-VIP, ir-CGRP levels recovered. After treated with Sijunzi Tang, ir-SP was slightly improved but still showed significantly difference compared with control. ir-VIP, ir-CGRP were improved to the levels of control group. Changes of SP,VIP, CGRP levels in gastric antrum of SD rats may be closely related to the gastrointestinal motility disorders presented in SD. The Chinese herbs(Sijunzi Tang)currently used have partially therapeutic effect.
