Intracellular recordings were made from toad dorsal root ganglion(DRG)associated with sciatic nerve(Sc)and dorsal root(Dr)in vitro. Action potentials(AP)of DRG neurons were evoked by stimulation of Sc and(or)Dr and effects of local GABA perfusion on the evoked potentials were observed. The AP′s amplitude and duration were significantly reduced and prolonged, respectively,as the DRG was perfused with GABA solution. Its after-hyperpolarization and frequency following ability were increased and decreased, respectively under the GABA perfusion. These results indicate that GABA may exert its inhibitory role in synaptic transmission in the DRG via its receptors on the cell body of DRG neurons.

Substance P(SP),vasoactive intestinal peptide(VIP), calcitonin gene related peptide(CGRP)levels in all layers of gastric antrum in experimental spleen deficiency(SD)rats were measured by radioimmunoassys(RIA).The results show that: The ir-SP,ir-VIP,ir-CGRP levels in gastric antrum of SD rats were significantly lower than that of control. The reduced percent is ir-SP>ir-VIP>ir-CGRP. In spontaneous recovery cases, ir-SP level was still less than control, while ir-VIP, ir-CGRP levels recovered. After treated with Sijunzi Tang, ir-SP was slightly improved but still showed significantly difference compared with control. ir-VIP, ir-CGRP were improved to the levels of control group. Changes of SP,VIP, CGRP levels in gastric antrum of SD rats may be closely related to the gastrointestinal motility disorders presented in SD. The Chinese herbs(Sijunzi Tang)currently used have partially therapeutic effect.

Using MSG lesioned rats, the changes of enzymes and lipid in rat′s adrenal gland were studied . Animals were seperated into three groups of 11th day(newborn stage), 52th day(pu terty)and 100th day(adult). Each stage rats were seperated into two subgroups, the sham and lesion subgroups. The speciments of adrenal glands were stained with histochemistry and red oil O to show SDH,LDH,3-β-HSDH,G-6-Pase,G-6-PDH,NsE and lipid. Quantitative analyses were performed. The present study revealed that all of the above enzyme activities and lipid were elevated in lesion group of 11th day. In lesion group of 52th day and 100th day, the enzyme activities of LDH were elevated and other enzyme activities and lipid were low. These studies reveal that MSG may poisined on adrenal gland.

The early changs of ischemic/repurfusion ventricular arrhythmia(VA,、the blood nitric oxide(NO)and the myocardial nitrio oxide synthetase(NOS)were observed for the study of effects of endogenous NO on ischemic/reperfusion VA. It was found that: ① the VA of myocardial ischemic/repurfusion rats(I/R)was more than(P<0.01)and NO was less than(P<0.05)the control group; there was the negative interrelationship botween NO and VA grade(r=-0.745 14 , P<0.05). It indicated that there was the relationship between the dicrease of NO and the increase of VA. ② there was no notable difference of NOS between I/R and control group. It seems to point out that the increased consumption increase leads to the dicrease of NO.

Human visual search includes two interacting processes: A cover process(“look")and a vision process(“see"). The fundamental strategies for human visual search of a 2D scene include systematic and random cover patterns. Based on the experiment results, when search conditions are relative dificult, searchers usually conducted a random search. A probability formula for modelling random search performance is discussed in this paper. When the parameters are properly seleted, this model fits the experiment data quite well.

Thyroid and parathyroid glands of rats with experimental spleen deficiency syndrome were studied by morphological and cytochemical methods. The results of morphological observation showed that thyroid follicles appeared irregular, follicular epithela became low cuboidal and folliclar space became wider than normal. No obvious changes were observed in parathyroid glands. Cytochemical study results showed that the activity of ACP in thyroid follicular cells and PAS of colloid were weaker than normal. LDH and ALP activity in parathyroid glands cells were stonger, whereas ACP activity became weaker. This research demonstrated that thyroid and parathyroid glands of rat with experimental spleen deficiency syndrome underwent pathological changes.

A group of young men were analyzed through biochemical methods. In this group, the deficient rate of riboflavin reached 42.9%, the rate of iron deficient anaemia was 37.5 % and the abnormal rate of free erythrocyte protoporphyrin(FEP)was 11.0%. The mean concentration of haemoglobin in the riboflavin deficiency group was lower than that of riboflavin normal group, but the contents of FEP weren′t different in two groups. The rate of iron deficient anaemia in the riboflavin deficiency group was significantly higher than that in the riboflavin normal group(P< 0.05). The level of BGRAC showed significantly negative correlation with Hb and HCT(P< 0.05), but it didn′t show significant correlation with FEP in this experiment. The study suggested that riboflavin deficiency was interrelated with anaemia, but not with FEP which reflect the second phase of iron deficiency.

Clinical manifestation and pathological morphology of 23 cases of necrotizing lymphadenitis were reported. This disease occurs in young female more frequently. Its chief clinical manifestations are enlargement of lymph node in neck and fever. Its histological change is complicated. The differential diagnosis must be made between necrotizing lymphadenitis and other lymphadenitis or malignant lymphoma. Biopsy of lymph node is an important diagnostic mean. The patient recovers after a self limited clinical course. Antibiotics aren′t effective regimen.

To explore the diagnostic method of pulmonary tuberculosis(PTB), the following methodsbacterial examination of tubercle bacill in sputum by acid fast staining technique was studied by smear acid fast staining technique(TB smear), polymerase chain reaction technique, PPD skin test and determination of antimycobacterial antibody level in the patient blood were utilized for diagnosing PTB. The results showed: The specificity of diagnosing PTB reached 100%, but the its sensitivity was very low(22.2%)by using TB smear. The other three methods were a little better in sensitivity, but were too bad in specificity. This suggested: The reliable diagnostic method of PTB is still a TB smear, however, the sensitivity is no good. The other three methods have limited value in diagnosing PTB.

Twenty-five patients were treated by percutaneous cervical discectomy(PCD)for herniated disc and cervical spondylosis. The follow up period was from half a year to five years with an average of three years.Three cases were herniation of cervical intervertebral disc and the other twenty two cases were cervical spondylosis. Among them one case suffered from symptoms of compression of spinal nerve root, the other twenty four cases had symptoms of compression of spinal cord, and meanwhile vertigo and diplopia were also noticed. Four patients had the PCD performed at the two levels. The procedures were performed at C3~4 level in five cases, C4~5 level in seven cases, C5~6 level in thirteen cases, and C6~7 level in four cases. The success rate was 96% and the excellen or good rate was 88%.The pressures of intervertebral disc were measured in operation in four cases that showed the PCD could decrease the pathologicly high pressure of intervertebral disc and thus, the disease was cured. Owing to the appliance of endoscope, the operation was performed more safely and more reasonably.

Thirty two cases of patients for the surgery were selected: Luminal and atropine were administrated(c. m)before operation. Patients were randomly divided into 2 groups, SGB(S)and non-SGB(N). A solution of 0.88 % lidocain was ipsilaterrally injected in group S and its effectiveness was determined by pupil constriction. Both local and pethidine plus droperidol anesthesia were applied in the two groups and ketarnine was added when stimulation was stronger during the surgery. Systolic(SP)distolic(DP)and HR were simultaneously monitored at time of entry(T0)beginning operation(T4)and subcutaneous fistulation(T5). Dosage and number of intravenous administration were also recorded. Both SP and HR at T4 and T5 were S<N(P<0.05 and 0.01 respectively). Dosage of both pethidime and ketamine was S<N P<0.05 and 0.01 respectively). These results indicate that the treatment of SGB may exert its role in improving analgesia and stabilization of circulation during surgery and its usage is recommended for sympathetic dominant patients during their operation.

A retrospective study was made of 3 184 live births. The rate of neonatal asphyxia was 3.61 %(115/3 184), among which severe cases are 45.2%(52/115). Multi factors of asphyxia such as fatal placental unit function, birth weight, gestational age, preterm labor etc were ana lysed and showed that the most important aspect is intrauterine distress due to fatal placental unit disfunction. The higher rate of asphyxia was discoverd for gestational age, low birth weight, preterm delivery. The prognosis of asphyxia is related with gestational age, birth weight, especially the duration and degree of distress.

Eighteen patients with symptomatic leiomyoma were treated with 25 mg of RU486 daily for 3 months. All women were amenorrheic during the course of treatment. Leiomyoma volume decreased 36.9% after 3 moths′treatment. Compared with pretreatment values, RU486 treatment induced a decrease of serum P, but FSH, LH and E2 and remained unchanged. The study indicates that 25 mg of RU486 daily can induce a significant decrease in leiomyoma volume, and it may prove to be an assistant mode of treatment for uterine leiomyoma.

In order to study the pathogenic mechanism of sudden deafness, the authors investigated and compared the plasma concentrations of ET-1 and CGRP in 24 cases of sudden deafness patients pre and post treatment. The result showsed: In the group in which hearing was clearly improved the concentration of ET-1 were significantly higher pre treatment than post treatment and the concentration of CGRP were much lower pre treatment than post treatment. The result indicated that high plasma concentration of ET-1 and low concentration of CGRP may act as the pathogenic factors predisposing occurrence of sudden deafness.
