Abstract: The plasma concentration of CGRP(calcitonin gene related peptide)and ET(endothelin)in 33 NIDDM patients complicated with cerebral infarction were investigated. Results showed that the concentration of ET within 72 h in group of NIDDM complicated with cerebral infarction was higher than those in the rest three groups, manely simple cerebral infarction, simple NIDDM and controls(P<0.01). The concentration of CGRP in group of NIDDM complicated with cerebral infarction was lower than that in simple cerebral infarction group, but was higher than that in simple NIDDM group. When NIDDM patients complicated with hypertention, retinopathy or nephrosis suffered from cerebral infarction, their concentration of ET were higher than that in NIDDM without complication, and their concentrations of CGRP were lower than that of NIDDM without complication. In NIDDM with complicated cerebral infarction, the concentrations of ET within 72 h in severe cases were higher than ,and the concentration of CGRP were lower than those in mild or moderate cases.
