Abstract: The aim was to evaluate the clinical results of the artificial femoral head replacement for treatment of femoral neck fracture in the aged. We cured the fractures with Chinese single polar titanium combined with cemented femoral head from September, 1995 to July, 2001.All of the fractures were under the head of femur or in the middle neck of femur. Thirty-six patients of them were followed-up ranging from 2.0~5.6 years. All of them had single femoral neck fracture. They were researched in the outpatient department. Results: No re-fracture, nor injuries of the blood vessels happened and nerves in the operations. No deep venous thrombosis of the lower limbs, nor infective wounds were found after the operations. Appropriate exercising was carried out according to different patient's conditions. Based on Harris evaluation system, 9 patients had excellent results. 19 patients had fine results, and 4 patients had fair results and 4 patients had poor results, (The patients who had poor results had other diseases that could influence walk.) Authors think that it's satisfied to use the artificial femoral head replacement for treatment of femoral neck fracture in the aged.
