Abstract:

Objective To determine whether the Interleukin-6(IL-6),and Interleukin-6 Recep-tor(IL-6R),and Interleukin-8(IL-8) concentrations can be used as index for the diagnosis of GBS subclinical infection in early pregnancy. Methods Culture sepcimens for group B streptococcus were obtained from 208 pregnant women. The maternal serum, amniotic fluid and cord blood were collected seperately in selected 80 pregnants(20 pregnants without infections of other pathogens were GBS carriers;60 pregnants were controls),IL-6 and IL-8 levels were detected by enzymy-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) and immunohistochemistry technique. Results There were 20 GBS carriers in 208 pregnants(9.62%).The maternal serum and amniotic fluid IL-6,IL-8 levels in GBS carriers were higher than those in control group. The maternal serum and amniotic fluid IL-6,IL-8 in patients complicated with chorioamnionitis or GBS subclinical infection were all higher than those in control group.Determining cytokine was valuble clinical index for indentification of the chorioamnionitis in patients with GBS subclinical infection, but the relation between cytokine and the incidence of newborn was not found. Conclusion The maternal serum IL-6 is valuable clinical index for indentification of the patients with GBS subclinical infection.
