Analysis of subjects development of universities based on ESI and InCites:a case study of Capital Medical University

Abstract: Objective To investigate situation of the Capital Medical University's (CCMU) Essential Science Indicators (ESI) research areas. Methods Using ESI, InCites, we will analyze the numbers,citations, percentage of citations, Category Normalized Citation Impact (CNCI), H index, and co-operation status of CCMU Web of Science articles. Results CCMU had five ESI research areas(clinical medicine, neuroscience & behavior, immunology, pharmacology & toxicology, biology & biochemistry), the quality of published journals should be improved, supported mainly by the National Natural Science Foundation and the Natural Science Foundation of Beijing, institutional cooperation mainly in the domestic and international cooperation is mainly concentrated in the United States. Conclusion To promote the first-class disciplines construction,Capital Medical University needs to strengthen discipline layout, to enhance academic influence, to pay more attention to the quality of the articles, to encourage teachers to get high-level papers published, to participate in international cooperation and to expand international academic influence, and take into account academic cooperation and academic impact assessment when evaluating introduction of academic talents.
