Progress in study on antibacterial orthodontic adhesive

Abstract: Fixed orthodontic treatments had been widely clinically applied in recent years due to their high efficiency and accuracy. White spot lesions around brackets is a major complication in patients of fixed orthodontic treatments, especially those with poor oral hygiene. Enamel demineralization not only unesthetic, but also damage the oral health, and therefore the white spot lesions is the issue of orthodontic doctors should not be ignored. Orthodontic brackets are bonded to teeth via orthodontic adhesives, if orthodontic adhesive has antibacterial properties, it can effectively prevent the enamel demineralization. The objective of this review was to elaborate on the method and progress of the study on antibacterial orthodontic adhesive.
