Analysis of 24 cases of postoperative infection after parastomal hernia repair

Abstract: Objective To investigate the reasons of postoperative infection after parastomal hernia repair, to summarize the prevention and treatment of infection. Methods A retrospective analysis was made on the clinical data of 24 cases who were receiving the treatment of infection after parastomal hernia repair in Beijing Chaoyang Hospital, Capital Medical University, from January 2007 to December 2015. Results A total of 24 cases suffered from infection, 5 of them suffered from intestinal fistula, 3 of them suffered from patch infection, 16 of them suffered incision infection. All of them received clinical recovery by reasonable and effective treatment, no hernia recurrence and no death were found. Conclusion Many factors can cause postoperative infection after parastomal hernia repair, if infection happened, individualized treatment should be needed.
