Abstract: The analysis of left and right ventricular ejection fraction and clinical data obtained from 42 cases of severe cor pulmonale, 7 cases of mild cor pulmonale, 16 cases of cot pulmonale with coronary heart disease and 30 normal people showed that severe cor pulmonale patients had left heart insufficiency in acute attack stage In contrast, the patients with mild cor pulmonale did not have left heart insufficiency. The results imply that cor pulmonale develops from a mainly right heart disease into global heart disease only in advanced stage. The comparison of left ventricular function between severe cor pulmonale and cor pulmonale with coronary heart disease, demonstrated that the left ventricular insufficiency caused by dual pathogeneses always inflicts more myocardial damage and recovers with more difficultly.
