Abstract: The effects of extracts from the leaves of Ginkgo biloba on the activity of murine lymphocytes and neutrophils were investigated by colorimetric 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-y)-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide(MTT)assay and micromeasurement of myeloperoxidase(MPO). The results show that the activity of plastiosome dehydrogenase in lymphocytes(P<0.001)and the MPO release of neutrophils(P<0.01)were enhanced when the cells were pretreated with the extracts from the leaves of Ginkgo biloba. Together these findings indicate these extracts may strengthen the function of murine immunocytes.
