Abstract: To explore the clinical significance of four parameters of platelet in patients with liver cirrhosis and severe hepatitis. 521 patients with varied types of viral hepatitis were divided into 2 observing groups (liver cirrhosis and severe hepatitis) and 3 controlled groups (chronic active hepatitis, acute hepatitis and healthy adult). Four parameters of platelet (PLT, MPV, PCT and PDW) were detected (using Japan East Asia Sysmex F 800 hematocyte automatic counting machine) and compared. PLT and PCT in patients with liver cirrhosis and severe hepatitis decreased significantly (P<0.05 or P<0.01), especially in those who died or bled obviously. This suggested that the four parameters of platelet can not only reflex platelet function, but also help evaluate the severity and hemorrhage trend of viral hepatitis.
