Significance of Pain Treatment for Patients with Terminal Cancer at Home

Abstract: Atotal of 60 patients were enrolled into the study. The managed home care system included follow-up interviews, pain revaluation and dosage adjustment, which followed guidelines of three-step analgesic ladder proposed by WHO. The result of the study shows that a managed home care system is able to relieve patients' pain by 98% and is able to improve patients' quality of life in respect of appetite, sleep and spirits. On the whole, it is a good system which may relieve patients from pain effectively and promotes mutual understanding between doctors and patients. The study demonstrates that managed home care system is suitable for China's situation. It should be spread extensively.
