Abstract:

Objective To evaluate the effects of simvastatin on plasma apoprotein A1(apoA1), apoB100 and hs-CRP in hypercholesterolemia. Methods Serum cholesterol, apoA1, apoB100 and hs-CPR were determined before and after treatment with simvastatin 20 mg/d in 79 patients with hypercholesterolemia. Results After treatment with simvastatin, the serum cholesterol, apoB100 as well as hs-CRP were significantly decreased( P <0.01). And the ratio apoA1/apoB100 was increased significantly( P < 0.05 ).Conclusion The lipid lowering treatment with simvastatin can not only decrease serum cholesterol, but also inhibit the inflammation. The results indicate that simvastatin can prevent the development of atherosclerosis by multiple ways.
