Abstract: Objective To investigate the changes of the blood lipid level in patients with hypertension and in patients hyperuricemia or in patients with hypertension combined with hyperuricemia respectively. Methods Blood uric acid (UA), total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG) and high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) were measured in one hundred and three patients with hypertension, thirty nine patients with hypertension complicating with hyperuricemia caused by diuretic therapy, one hundred and twenty eight healthy subjects as control and seventy four patients with hyperuricemia and normal blood pressure. The volume of low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C)were calculated in all group. Results The incidence of increased serum lipid was higher in hyperuricemia group, hypertension group, hypertension combined with hyperuricemia group than in control group. Hypertension and hyperuricemia either had effects on serum lipid levels. Conclusion Hyperuricemia is correlated with hypercholesteremia closely. Hypertensive patients complicating with hyperuricemia caused by diuretic therapy could be coincident with disorder of blood lipid as well.
