Abstract: Objective To evaluate the implementation effect of clinical pathway(CP) in intertrochanteric hip fractures in the elderly population undergoing DHS for internal fixation. Methods After consulting the information of the hospitalized patients with intertrochanteric hip fractures after internal fixation with dynamic hip screw(DHS) from October 2002 to October 2006,we analyzed the implementation effect of CP using the average duration of hospitalization and the hospital expenditure for the patients as the evaluating indexes. Results There was significant difference in terms of the average duration of hospitalization and expenditure between the CP groups and the traditionally treating groups. Conclusion The method of clinical pathway can markedly decrease the duration of hospital stay and the expenditure for intertrochanteric hip fractures undergoing DHS for internal fixation.
