Abstract: Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of electroacupuncture at acupoints in front of ears with drug treatment on tinnitus, to evaluate the interventions, and to analyze the possible factors influencing the treatment with the method of multivariate linear stepwise regression.
Methods Eighty cases with chronic subjective tinnitus in whom ringing in the ears was the first complaint and course of more than 3 months were enrolled in this study. The patients were randomly divided into acupuncture group and drug control group, 40 cases in each. In the acupuncture group the main points in front of ears were adopted and were treated through pulse stimulation, the needles were left for fifteen minutes each time, once a day and twenty times formed a course. The patients in the drug control group were given oral tablets, Ginkgo and Mecobalamin for 20 consecutive days. After the treatment, evaluation was made according to standards, and analyses were performed for factors that may affect efficacy of tinnitus.
Results Efficiency of the two groups were 52.5% and 37.5%, there was no significant difference(P=0.082). The effect Y had a negative correlation with the course X2.
Conclusion Intervention with both the acupuncture and drug treatments was effective for patients with tinnitus.
