Sharp Weapon Aiming at Diseases——The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for 2007 Jointly to American and British Scientists for Gene Targeting

Abstract: 8th October 2007 The Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institute has decided to award The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for 2007 jointly to Mario R.Capecchi,Martin J.Evans and Oliver Smithies for their discoveries of "principles for introducing specific gene modifications in mice by the use of embryonic stem cells".In this paper,we introduce contributions of the three winners,and the significance of the discovery of gene targeting.
