Clinical and pathological analysis of 7 cases of primary cardiac tumors in children

Abstract: Objective To investigate the histologic types and clinical features of primary cardiac tumors in children. Methods After observation of the gross specimen, we got the tissue sampling along the tumor's maximum section, and did the conventional paraffin section, HE staining,histochemistry and immunohistochemical staining, microscopic observation, and analysed the clinical data. Results According the morphological characteristics and the results of immunohistochemistry, 7 cases were all benign, including 3 cases of rhabdomyoma, 3 cases of cardiac fibroma, 1 case of papillary fibroelastoma. Conclusion Primary cardiac tumors in children were rare.Most of them were benign.Mark of immunohistochemical and special histochemical staining could help the diagnosis.It was very important for treatment and prognosis of primary cardiac tumors to make accurate diagnosis,and effective surgical procedures.
