Abstract: We conducted a random crossover study on the effects of a new androgenic preparation “andriol”in 62 elderly men with coronary heart disease(CHD).Our results showed that serum estradial(E2)level and estradial/testosterone(E2/T)ratio were significantly elevated and serum T level was significantly reduced(all P<0.001)in CHD patients, when com-pared with those in healthy controls, indicating that there was disorder of sex hormones (SH)in elderly men with CHD.After administration of andriol, the disorder of SH in CHD patients was improved, that is,serum T level was increased significantly(P<0.001),E2 le-vel did not change significantly(P>0.05)and E2/T ratio was reduced(P<0.05).There was no significant change in the control group. No obvious side effect was found in those who took andriol.
