Abstract: Futongwan(FTW),a traditional Chinese medicine, contains mainly Badou. In the dosage of 1.5 g/kg ,ig. it significiently increased the average amplitude of gastrointestinal slow wave and the total amplitude of gastric motion but had no marked effect on the intestinal motion in rat. In the dosage of 3.5g/kg ,ig. it significently increased the average amplitude of gastrointestinal slow wave and the total amplitude of gastrointestinal motion in rat. However,FTWin the above-mentioned two dosages had no marked effects on the frequency of gastrointestinal electric slow wave and motion.
