Abstract: For investigation of the correlation between body status and metabolism of lipids, the lipid levels and body mass index, Rohler index were examined in 102 simple obese children aged 6 to 15 years and 77 age-matched healthy children. It was found that total cholesterol, triglyceride, very low-density lipoprotein, low density lipoprotein cholesterol and atherosclerosis index were significantly increased(P<0.05, and P<0.01), while the level of high-density lipoprotein was decreased(P<0.05), in obese children than in healthy children. Stepwise multivaritate regression analysis disclosed that triglyceride alone and jointly positively correlated with body mass index and Rohler index except multiple markers of lipids.

Key words: simple obesity, Rohler index, body mass index, lipids and lipoproteins
