    Distribution of 5 HT and NE Nerve Cells and Fibre in Rat′s Brain

    Adult female rats were used and divided into two groups. The experimental rats were injec ted abdominally with pargiline and L-tryptophan which can promote the synthesis of 5HT, while inhibit the disintegration of it. The normal control rats were treated with nothing. The immunohistochemistry method was used to observe the distribution of 5HT nerve cells in brain and the fibres in pituitary and adrenal. It was found that the 5HT nerve cells can only be found in brainstem in the normal control group, while it can also be found in hypothalamus in the experimental group. The NE nerve cells were distributed in septal area, hypothalamus and brainstem. In pituitany intermediate lobe and neuroal lobe, can be found the fibres of 5HT and NE. Lots of 5HT and NE cell can be found in adrenal.

    Spatial distribution of the spinal pre-EPSP(pre-EPSP)and the antidromic action potential evoked by the stimulation of the spinal cord on the soma and ventral dendrite of the crucian carp Mauthner cell was explored by means of multiple intracellular recording technique. The results showed that the maximum amplitude of the pre-EPSP was recorded at the soma, it declined progressively along the ventral dendrite with a spatial constant of about 500 μm, a value much larger than 330 μm estimated on the basis of measurements of the antidromic action potential spreaded in the same direction as pre-EPSP. It suggested that the synapses mediated the pre-EPSP densely impinge on the regions near the soma, whereas scattered synapses also distribute along the ventral dendrite.

    To make the method searching the p53 expression of lung cancer usable wildely in clinic units , the author studied the p53 protein expression of 33 cases lung cancer resected surgically both with the fresh tissue touch preparations and with frozen tissue specimens by using immunohistochemistry ABC method. The results showed that the p53 positive rate of touch preparations and frozen tissue specimens was 60.60% and 63.64%, respectively. The statistic analysis to the results of two groups displayed very much remarkable relativity(P<0.001), but the no significant discrepancy(P>0.05). The conclusion is that the method of the touch preparations specimens has the convenient, accurate and reliable characteristis for testing p53 protein expression and needs not to do the common pathological specimens. There is some prospects for clinic use in the future.

    The alloxan diabetes rat model was used to study the effect of diabetes on ischemia/reperfusion ventricular fibrillation rate(VFr), times(VFt)and ischemic preconditioning. The results showed that the reperfusion VFr in diabetes rats were less than that in normal rats(P<0.05), and the ischemia and reperfusion VFt in diabetes rats were shorter than that in normal rats. It suggested that there was the better cardiac electricity stability in early diabetes rats. The ischemic precondation did not changed the reperfusion VFt and VFr, but increased the ischemic VFt. It indicated that the self protect function of the diabetes heart was decreased.

    Rat model of moentjang tina was produced by imitating moentjang tina of human beings with Tung oil(aleuriter fordii). The effect of moentjang tina on histochemistry and ultrastructure changes of liver in rats was observed. The results showed that the degenerative changes were found in the hepatocytes of rats, such as hydropic degeneration and fatty degeneration. Ultrastructural changes indicated the damages on mitochondria and the formation vacuoles. In addition, the activities of SDH, Mg2+ -ATPase, G-6-Pase, and PAS reaction of experimental group were apparently lower than those in control group. The activities of LDH and ACP were higher than those in control group. It is suggested that tung oil can cause injure on liver by direct damages or interfering the metabolism of energy.

    Wistar newborn rats were injected subcutaneously with 10% monosodium glutamate(MSG). The development of rat testes were observed on the 52th(puberty)and 100th day(adult). The results showed that testes weights of MSG group were decreased significantly as compared with control group(P<0.01)in both puberty and adult. MSG treated rats had significantly lower serum concentrations of testosterone than saline treated rats(P<0.01)on both ages. Testes developed arrestedly in MSG group. Spermatogenic cells were consisted of spermatogonia and spermatocyte, spermatid and spermatozoa were not seen in convoluted seminiferous tubule. Thus, MSG can block the spertogenesis.

    The tests adapted four-vessel occlusion model to study the different patterns of astrocytosis in post TIA rat hippocampal formation induced by a repeated transient cerebral ischemia. The astrocytes were identified by using an antibody against glial fibrillary acidic protein(GFAP). The morphological changes, distribution and time-course changes of reactive astrocytes were investigated after TIAs in the hippocampal formation. Reactive astrocytosis in CA1 and CA3 all attained highest peak at 7 d after reputation. The number, area and grey of astrocytes in CA1 were respectively 12.68±1.57,(123.90±19.39)μm2, 113.20±18.76 at 7 d after reputation. Then its astrocytosis was lastly and no distinct with that at 30 d after reputation(P>0.05). The number, area and grey of astrocytes in CA3 were respectively 9.24±0.88,(113.60±18.87)μm2, 96.61± 9.36 at 7 d after reputation. Astrocytosis in CA3 was brief and down quickly from 7 d to 30 d(P< 0.01).

    In order to investigate the dynamic alteration of intersitial collagenase(MMP1)gene expression in the processes of experimental liver fibrosis, CCl4 and albumin induced two animal models of liver fibrosis were established and MMP1 gene expression level in the different stages of liver fibrosis was measured by quantitative analysis of reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR). Results showed that MMP1 gene expression could be detected in normal rat liver. In the pathogenesis and development of liver fibrosis, MMP1 gene expression level increased gradually. At stage of liver cirrhosis, MMP1 gene expression is lower than that at stage of liver fibrosis. MMP1 gene expression maintained at relative high level in reversal of liver cirrhosis. These results indicates that the alteration of MMP1 gene expression was consistent with the change of MMP1 activity in the processes of liver fibrosis.

    A 287 bp I/D polymorphism in intro 16 of the ACE gene was determined by polymerse chain reaction in a study of 44 patients with NIDDM, 31 patients with MI in NIDDM, and 132 healthy subjects without myocardial infarction and NIDDM. The result was that the frequencies of DD genetype among the NIDDM(0.14)was similar to that of the healthy control subjects(0.17). The freguencies of DD genetype were higher among the MI in NIDDM group(0.42)than among the healthy control subjects(0.17, P<0.05)and among the NIDDM group(0.14, P<0.05). It suggested that deletion polymorphism of the ACE gene may be a risk factor of MI in NIDDM in Chinese population.

    To investigate circadian changes of 24 h ambullatory blood pressure after acute myocardial infarction, 42 patients were studied by mearsuring 24 h ambullatory blood pressure and heart rate variability(HRV). The results were that the frequency of disappeared circadian rhythm was 83.33 %(35/42), and that the HRV was decreased in patients with no-dipper, compared with normal controls. The physiological, pathophysiological and clinical effect is to be further studied.

    Fifty-eight patients with essential hypercholesterolemia(TC≥5.98 mmol/L)were treated with Chinese lovastatin and American lovastatin(MSD)by means of randomized double blind placebo-controlled clinical trials. The results showed that Chinese lovastatin decreased TC, LDL-C in the same manner as American lovastatin(MSD)within 1~2 month. Both of them had mild side-effects.

    For investigation of the correlation between body status and metabolism of lipids, the lipid levels and body mass index, Rohler index were examined in 102 simple obese children aged 6 to 15 years and 77 age-matched healthy children. It was found that total cholesterol, triglyceride, very low-density lipoprotein, low density lipoprotein cholesterol and atherosclerosis index were significantly increased(P<0.05, and P<0.01), while the level of high-density lipoprotein was decreased(P<0.05), in obese children than in healthy children. Stepwise multivaritate regression analysis disclosed that triglyceride alone and jointly positively correlated with body mass index and Rohler index except multiple markers of lipids.

    Forty adult Kunming rats were used and divided into four groups, i.e. normal control group and three experimental 2-ethoxyethanol(EE)-induced groups. The results of pathomorphological observation of testes in EE groups showed: Primary spermatocytes degenerated and necrosed, spermatids differentiation ceased, the number of mature spermatozoon diminished. The epithe lium cells had degenerated and the ductal wall of epididymis became thinner. The stroma cells of the testis proliferated. The above lessions were aggrevated as the dose of EE increased. The fact indicated that EE had pathological effects on testis and epididymis. It was recommended that regular examination of the function of spermatosome should performed on those who professionally exposed to EE, and proper protective action should be adopted.

    A model of lung injury following acute necrotizing pancreatitis in rats was produced by inje cting sodium taurocholate under the pancreatic coating. The changes of TXB2/6-keto-PGF in plasma was observed by radioimmunoassay. The effects of nicotinic acid on lung injury following acute necrotizing pancreatitis was studied. The results showed that TXB2,TXB2/6-keto-PGF and lung index of acute necrotizing pancreatitis in rats were elevated progressively. Nicotinic acid caused a marked decrease in both the level of TXB2, ratio of TXB2/6-keto-PGF and the lung index. The data indicated that the changes of TXB2,6-keto-PGF balance may be one of methanisms responsible for plumonary injury caused by acute necrotizing pancreatitis. Necotinic acid may has a therapeutic effect on acute necrotizing pancreatitis associated lung injury.

    To study the relationship of slight albuminuria(microalbuminuria)to serum lipids and lipoproteins in elder NIDDM, the levels of plasma TC、TG、HDL-C、apoA、apoB、Lp(a)were determined in elder NIDDM patients with microalbuminuria and normal albuminuria and control subjects. The result showed that the levels of plasma TG Lp(a)in elder NIDDM patients with microalbuminuria were significantly higher than those in elder NIDDM patients with normal albuminuria and control subjects. The levels of plasma HDL-C、 apoA in elder NIDDM patients with microalbuminuria were significantly lower than those in elder NIDDM patients with normal albuminuria and control subjects. It is conclude that elder NIDDM patients with microalbuminuria are associated with alter lipid and lipoprotein levels. The excess cardiovascular mortality and morbidity in elder NIDDM patients with microalbuminuria may. In part, be explained by these lipidand lipoprotein abnormalities.
    Fetal Death within One Week of Non-stress Testings

    The number of fetal death was 228 in 37 890 times of non-stress testing(NST)from 1989~1996(8 years). 51 cases were died with one week of NST accounted 22.4% of total fetal death and 0.13% of total number of NST. 97.1% of NST result was reaction(NST-R)and 2.9% was non reaction(NST-NR). The fetal mortality rate in NST-R group was significantly lower than that of NST-NR group 0.07% vs 2.28%, P<0.001. In NST-R group 73.1% of fetal deaths was term and normal birth weight babies, 50% of their mothers was low risk pregnancy. The main cause of fetal deaths was acute even(74%)due to cord or placental problems. In NST-NR group 96% of fetal deaths was premature and low birth weight babies. 80% of them was from high risk mothers including 64% of pregnancy induced hypertension disorders and 16% of intrauterine fetal growth retardation. All of NST-NR cases complicated with other abnormal fetal placental testing. The result showed that NST is one method of survillances to predict prognosis. If result of NST is NST-NR and complicated with other abnormal results of fetal placental testing, the prognosis would be poor especial for premature baby.

    The normal cyclic endometrium, the endometrium of irregular bleeding which using Norplant for about half a year and 1 year. All endometrial tissues were studied on morphology and sex steroid receptors by immunohistochemistry. It is to research the relationship between the irregular bleeding and sex steroid receptors of endometrium. The results demonstrated that changes of normal cyclic had not showed in endometrium using Norplant. The vessels of endometrium showed break. The lever of ER and PR in endometrium showed decrease in varying degrees. These results suggested that LNG inhibit production of ER and PR in endometrium. For this reason, bioactivities of E and P were inhibited, among which unhealthy grow of vessels is a possible reason for abnormal uterine bleeding.
