Abstract: Objective To study the effects of extracellular α-synuclein (α-Syn) on the proliferation of MES23.5 Dopaminergic Neuronal Cells. Methods The recombinant human α-Syn was extracellularly administrated to the MES23.5 dopaminergic neuronal cells.Immunohistochemistry and Western blot analysis were used to detect the α-Syn entered into the cells.MTT assay was used to measure cell proliferation. Results Extracellularly administered α-Syn entered into the neuronal cells and significantly promoted the proliferation of the cells in a dose-dependent manner.A specific monoclonal antibody against α-Syn blocked the entry of α-Syn into the cells and the cell proliferation. Conclusion Extracellular α-Syn promotes the proliferation of dopaminergic neuronal cells.
