Abstract: Objective To analyze the changes of angiogenic factors during the development of MM in different clinical stages. Methods Sixty-six MM patients and 14 monoclonal gammopathy patients of undetermined significance(MGUS) were studied.Five-milliliter of bone marrow, anticoagulate with heparin, were obtained from each patient. The levels of angiogenic factors(IL-6,VEGF,bFGF,MMP-2,MMP-9) in BM were determined with ABC-ELISA.Results There was no difference in angiogenic factors between the newly diagnosed and refractory/relapsed MM,but they were higher than MM at remission and MGUS.There was no difference in angiogenic factors except for MMP-9 between MM at remission and MGUS.Conclusion The levels of angiogenic factors in bone marrow of MM patients are positively correlated with the patient's condition.Determinations of the concentrations of angiogenic factors are useful for the evaluation of the disease course.
