Abstract:

Eighteen cases of intracranial saccular aneurysms were studied histopathologically using special stain and immunohistochemical anethods. The results showed that the basic histopathologic changes of saccular aneurysms included damage, degeneration and repair. The primary kinetic force producing an aneurysm originated from an pressure exerting on the arterial wall by changed velocity of blood flow. The larger blood vessel and the stronger repairing ability of the organism were bases for forming large aneurysms. The middle and small aneurysms had frequently the chance of rupture and hemorrhage in wall of aneurysm. The production and development of aneurysms can be influenced by acquired factors. This study is of clinical value for affording some hints for the mechanigm of such aneurysms and their prevention and treatment.
