Abstract: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the use of CT in the investigation of unexplained hemoptysis. Those patients who were diagnosed normal through chest radiographs and examinations of the sputum forcells and tubercle bacillus were studied by CT from lung apex to diaphragm. Abnormalities were seen in 26(65%)of the CT scans. Fifteen of the patients had evidence of bronchiectasis(37.5%). In four cases(10%)infiltrative pulmonary tuberculosis was detected. In four cases(10%)pneumonia was read and lung cysts were shown in the final three(7.5%). The results showed that CT scan can be used as a routine study for suspected hemoptysis and most of the unexplained hemoptysis cases are bronchiectasis, pulmonary tuberculosis and pneumonia.
