Abstract: Effect of water extract of Cordyceps sinensis (CS) and Paecilomyces sinensis (PS) on nonspecific and humoral immue function in mice was investigated. Charcoal particles clearance rate assay and peritoneal macrophages (PMφ) phagocytosis of neutral red were measured by colorimetric method as well as quantitative hemolysis spectrometric (QHS) assay. The results demons trated that both CS and PS 1.0, 2.0, 4.0 g/(kg·d)×3 d, ig dose dependently intensified charcoal particle clearance rate in mice (P<0.01) and significantly reversed cyclophosphamide (Cy) reduced clearance rate at the dose of 2.0, 4.0 g/(kg·d)×3 d, ig respectively (P<0.01). In vitro, both CSand PS (0.25~8.0 g/L) significantly enhanced PMφ to phagocytize neutral red in a concentration dependent manner (P<0.01), both CSand PS 4.0 g/(kg·d)×7 d, ig significantly enhanced antibody formation cell (AFC) and serum hemolysin IgM level in normal mice (P<0.01), makedly reversed Cy-depressed humoral immunity (P< 0.01). In conclusion, both CS and PS markedly strengthened nonspecific and humoral immune function in mice.
