The Differentiation of Th1 and Th2 CD4+ T Lymphocytes of Peripheral Blood from Lung Cancer Patients

Abstract

Abstract: Objective To evaluate the differentiation of Th1 and Th2 CD4⁺ T lymphocytes of peripheral blood from lung cancer patients.Methods Interferon-γ(IFN-γ) and interleukin-4(IL-4) levels in CD4⁺ T lymphocytes of peripheral blood from 25 lung cancer patients and 25 healthy volunteers were detected using flow cytometry.IFN-γand IL-4 were used as markers for the differentiation of Th1 and Th2 subsets,respectively.Results IFN-γwas lower in CD4⁺ T lymphocytes from lung cancer patients than that from healthy controls.No difference was found for IL⁴.Conclusion The ratio of Th1 to Th2 subsets changed in lung cancer patients,which may be one of the mechanisms for the tumor to escape from the immune surveillance.
