A paradigm shift from standard to precisely minimal invasion in breast cancer.

Abstract: Throughout the transformation process of breast surgery over 100 years, the change of the operation ways represents the deeper insight to disease essence and the discipline development. From the Halsted classical operation to the failure of expanded radical surgery, returning to retain modified radical surgery with reservation of musculus pectoralis and breast conserving surgery, the improvement ironed the grieved mark in breast cancer surgical treatment towards minimally invasive and functional directions. Breast cancer surgical treatment has not stopped "the reduction" of the surgery, also forever without limits. Under such background, breast surgery presents a development tendency pursuing the individualized, minimally invasive, precise, the functional, the physique and the psychological recovery based on standardized treatment. This is founding a new treatment time.
