Abstract: Objective To study the CD34 and CK34βE12 expressions in the squamous intraepithelial lesions of the cervix and their clinical significance. Methods The S-P immunohistochemical method to detect CD34 and CK34βE12 expressions was applied to in 120 samples. Results The positive rate of CD34 and CK34βE12 in the inflammatory lesions were 70% and 86%, respectively; and in CIN Ⅰ the positive rate of CD34 was 71%, and the positive rate of CK34βE12 was 81%;in CIN Ⅱ the positive rate of CD34 was 77%, the positive rate of CK34βE12 was 66%; in CIN Ⅲ the positive rate of CD34 was 97%, while that of CK34βE12 could reach 100%. In addition, the expression pattern of the two proteins were related to the grade of cervical lesions(P<0.05). Conclusion The expressions of CD34 and CK34βE12 were correlated with CIN grading and these the two protein expressions may provide certain clinical significance in the diagnosis of CINs in the cervix, but not the canncer type.
