A Thymie Morphologic Study of 285 Autopsies in Fetus and Infants

Abstract: The article presents a study of the weight and histomorphological changes of thymus in 285 fetus and infants. Among them 121 cases were normal thymus, 156 cases were involution and 8 cases were underdevelopment. The average weight of normal thymus in newborn infants was about 16 g. Involution frequently appeared in pneumonia. The more severe involution was, the longer duration was. The factors in relationship with thymic weight、causes of involution and congenital immunodeficiency were discussed.
