Surgical Treatment for Eyeball Rupture

Abstract: The aim was to cure eyeball rupture by operation. Altogether 48 cases (51 eyes) of kinds of eyeball rupture were treated by earlier-period exploration and mending operation, combined with duo-phase vitrectomy and retinal operation and (or) cataract extraction on the basis of demand to analyze the relation of the severity of the wound, kinds of operation and prognosis. The visual acuity 34 cases(36 eyes) improved, 7 cases(7 eyes) without chang and 7 cases(8 eyes) decreased, among whom 3 cases (3 eyes) occurred atrophy. Conclusion: Deliberate exploration may prevent omitting simple scleral rupture; Whether the wounded eye has vision of LP or not is not the indication of making further operation. It's necessary to do best to save patients' visual acuity by trying vitrectomy and retinal operation as long as opportunity exists.
