Abstract: Ultrastructure of eleven common warts and two plantar warts were studied by transmitional electron microscopy. HPV antigens were localizied by immunohistochemical staining. Results showed that there was no viral particals or antigen in the stratum basale and lower or middle stratum spinosum. The viruses and antigens were mainly found in stratum granulosum and corneum, sometimes in upper stratum spinusum. "Pre-virus particlesn" were seen in upper stratum spinusum. A morphogenetic course of HPV in squamous epithelial cells was discovered.
