Abstract: To examine serum levels of soluble Fas(sFas) and tumor necrosis factor(TNF) in chronic heart failure and its relation to heart functional classes, 30 patients with coronary heart disease and chronic heart failure were observed. The study included 19 in NYHA heart functional Ⅲ, 11 in functional Ⅳ and 24 at the age matching normal control subjects. Serum sFas and TNF were measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. Results: sFas(7.83±5.66) μg/L and TNF(5.58±1.84) μg/L were increased in CHF than that in the control group, and sFas increased with severity of heart funtional classification. The increase of sFas and TNF may play an important role in the pathogenesis of CHF.
