Acute Apoplexy Initiated by Residual Tumors of Large Pituitary Adenoma Extended to Suprasellar Region Following Operation

Abstract: Residual tumors of three elder patients with large pituitary adenoma extended to the suprasellar region stroke acutely following operation were reported.Indication: Two men died after they were treated conservatively.One survived after reoperation.The large pituitary adenoma should undergo transcranial surgery, to ensure decompress on the hypothalamus and unblock cerebral spinal fluids circulation.If the diagnosis of pituitary apoplexy is established by computerized tomographic scans, emergent reoperation is needed.
