    Pathologic diagnosis of early myocardial ischemia is a very important problem. We tried to research the specificity and sensitivity of creatine kinase immunohistochemical stain for the diagnosis of early myocardial ischemia. At first,the pure antigen was extracted from the skeletal muscles of SD rats. The rabbit was immunized and anti-rat antibody was obtained.The left coronary artery of female SDrat was ligated in order to make the myocardium ischemic 20, 40, 60, 120 and 140 min after ligation, the heart was taken out, the myocasdial specimens were embeded in paraffin and their sections were stained according to PAP method. The results showed that discolouration of the ischemic myocardium accurred if ischemic time was more than 40 min. So,we conclude that the creatine kinase PAPstaining method is an effective diagnostic method and has higher specificity and sensitivity for early myocardial ischemia.

    The experimental rats were fed with cold-natured medicines (Zhimu, Shigao) for three weeks to made a "cold " syndrome model. After that, they were treated with two kinds of heat-natured medicines (I-Fuzi, Ganjiang: Ⅱ-Dangshen, Huangqi) respectively. After 5 and 7 days , the pituitary, thyroid, adrenal, and testis were taken.The specific anti-LH, anti-TSH adn anti-ACTH sera were used in the avidin-biotin-complex (ABC) immunohistochemical method to observe the changes of ACTH, LHand TSHcells. It was observed that the immunohistochemical reaction of the three kinds of pituitary hormone-secreting cells increased obviously in rats with "cold" syndrome and weakened after treated with heat-natured medicines. Among the three kinds of cells the change of ACTH cell was most remarkable.The changes of pituitary hormone-secreting cells treated with heat-natured medicines Iwere similar to those of heat-natured medicines Ⅱ. We also observed the morphologic changes of the three target organs. It was found that there was no obvious change in them and it might indicate that the amount of hormone was not enough to cause morphologic changes but only the functional ones.

    The specificity of monoclonal antibodies for E. coli LPS-core type was comfirmed ,but monoclonal antibodies specific for R4 or K12 core types were not available. Polyclonal antiseria (Pabs) which made by immunization with rought mutants of E. coli to the rabbits were made monospecific for a given E. coli LPS-core type by absorbtion. We decided that a tentative core type would be assigned to a bacterial strain if the ODobtained with one of the five absorbed Pabs (anti-R1-R4 and anti-K12) was at least twice that of the others. According to the standard, Pabs and monoclonal antibodies yielded identical outcomes concering the core type assigned (only R1, R2 and R3 core types). We discovered a novel core type, expressing both the R1 and R4 immunospecificity in the E. coli strains isolated from bacteremic patients (13strains/138 strains). They were resistant to proteolytic digestion and sensitive to periodate.After blocking the lipid Aand inner core (kdo-heptose) of the E. coli strains by r-BPI and clone 20 respectively. The reactivity of the both anti-R1 and anti-R4 Pabs with the E. coli strains was the same as before, it was indicated that the antigens which were recongnized and combined by anti-R1 and anti-R4 Pabs were neither proteins/peptide nor lipid Aand inner core(kdo-heptose). It should be outer core hexose antigens. We therefore assigned the R1R4 mixed core type to these strains, a core type not yet described in the literature.

    The restriction fragment length differences (RFLDs) of 4 domestic isolates of Trichinella spiralis from Yunnan, Henan, Shenyang, Changchun of China, were analysed. Trichinella spiralis of Yunnan, Henan, Shenyang were isolated from pig, while Trichinella spiralis of Changchun was isolated from dog. Total genomic DNA of muscle larve of each isolates was extracted with phonol/ethanol methods and digested separately with 10 restriction enzymes (BamHI,Dral,EcoRI,Hae Ⅲ, Hind Ⅲ, Hpa Ⅱ, Pst I, Pvu Ⅱ, XbaⅠ, XhoⅠ). All the DNA digested with enzymes were then carried on agarose gel electrophoresis for RFLDs analysis.The results shown that pattern differences were observed between isolates from pig and dog,and differences of host was useful more than differences of geography and climate in the taxonomy of Trichinella spiralis.

    Cysts of Giardia lamblia isolated from the feces of a Giardia-infected rabbit were inoculated into suckling BABL/C mice.Trophozoites of G. Lamblia obtained from the intestinal lumen of infected BABL/C mice were cultivated in modified TYI-S-33 medium at 37℃.Trophozoites grew luxuriantly and formed an intensive monolayer on the inner surface of the culture tube on day 20 after initial cultivation. Periodic examinations of Giardia culture for bacteria contamination used with petri dishs containing blood agar, proved negation. This axenic culture has been made more than 20 subcultures.

    In this study, we have demostrated that there were three stages in the development of mice testes after birth, during the first week, the seminiferous tubules consisted of simple genetic epithelium that was in a state of relative rest. From the second tothe fourth week, the epithelium of seminiferous tubules proliferated into more layers, including sperma togonium,spermatocytes, and spermatids, and a few spermatozoa were found in the epididymis. Afterthe fifth week many spermatozoa were found in tubules of epididymies. We thought this stage presented sex maturity of mice. Alkaline phosphatase and aminopeptidase localized in epithelium of seminiferous tubules in first week. From the second week, the positive reactivity became weak or negative. However, after the end of the second week, these enzymes could be found around a tissue layer of the seminiferous tubules. We would study further the reason for these changes.

    Granulated metrial gland (GMG) cells of Kungming mouse were studied by light and electron microscopy. The GMG cells contained characteristically numerous diastase-resistant PAS positive granules. At the ultrastructural level, the GMG cells were distinguished from other cells by specific membrane bound granules in cytoplasm. These granules presented a "cap" like electron dense structure on one side. The GMG cells appeared only in pregnantuterus. The observations indicate that the GMG cells belong to special cells.

    An assay of protease inhibitor activity was established on the basis of assay of trypsin and chymotrypsin activities. Three protease inhibitors, namely CM-BBI, crude-BBI and soy bean milk crystal crude-BBI, were determined by this method. Their activities (μg of enzyme used to inhibit one mg of inhibitor protein) were 16609, 1441 and 221 respectively. The ac tivity of the trypsin inhibitor from Sigma was also determined by our method. The result ob tained was identical with that of Sigma. Therefore, our method is highly reliabe. This method is an effective method for selecting the anticancer food.

    Studies on the cells of strains SZ21, SZ22 isolated from Haemaphysalis longicornis Neumann in 1992, Beijing, with electronic microscope showed that ultrastructure of them was similar to, but not identical with both strains B31 and M7. The cells of strains SZ21 and SZ22 were more narrow and longer than those of B31 and M7. The SZ21 and SZ22 having six and eight flagella respectively attached at each end were different from B31 and M7.

    It have observed the damage effect of Leukocyte activated by zymosan on the cultured vascular smooth muscle cell and cytoprotective activity of captopril. The result suggested that when the vascular smooth muscle cells were incubated with activated leukocytes, both lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and malondialdehyde (MDA) level in the culture medium were significantly increased as compared with the control group. If captopril was added into the culture medium, both LDHand MDA were decreased. This discovery indicated that the activated leukocytes could induce the injury of vascular smooth muscle cells, and captopril could alleviate the vascular smooth muscle cells injury. The mechanism of cytoprotective effect of captopril is correlated with the suppression of the production of oxygen-derived free radicals in certain extent.

    Two different methods were used to examine the biomechanical properties of the anterior cruciate ligament and the central one third patellar tendon. The patients'mean age was 26.The speimens were divided into two groups of four pairs each at random. The results showed that ACLpossessed the strength above 2000 N, the 10 mm wide central one third patellar tendon had the strength that was significantly higher than that of ACL. The relative orientation of the specimens to the line of tensile load affected the results. The authors believe that the results gained under anatomical orientation are more close to the real characteristics of the ACL.

    A new technique of pancreaticojeunostomy for the prevention of postoperative pancreatic fistula is reported. In 15 cases of Child's operations, circumferential incision was made on the jejunum stump 2~2.5 cm distal to the cut margin and deep through the serosal and superficial longitudinal muscular layers. The proximal serosal and superficial muscular layers were elevated and turned proximally 1~1.3 cm to the cut margin, resulting in a sleeve-like lengthening of the jejunum stump. Then the pancreatic stump was inserted into the sero-muscular sleeve to meet the jejunal stump. The anastomosis was completed by suturing the margin of the sero-muscular sleeve to the capsule of the pancreas securely. The resultant overlapping of 1~1.2 cm of the jejunal sleeve and the pancreatic stump formed a waterlight anastomosis.No pancreatic fistula occurred in the 15 cases operated upon with this technique. The efficacy of the technique has also been supported by experimental studyies in animal models. The au thors advocate the technique for further clinical trial.

    Rabbits were immunized with a mixture of dihydrostreptomycin,streptomycin sulfate,pure streptomycin and Freund's complete adjuvant. Serum samples were collected at differ ent time after immunization, followed by a level detection of antistreptomycin products in each sample. Our result showed that most animals could produce antibodies against strepto mycin. Our experiments also testified the presence of the immunogenicity of streptomycin. So far by now, aminoglycoside antibiotics such as streptomycin and gentamycin have already been proved to be semiantigens. When they are combined with amines of protein or polypep tide in vivo, complete antigens are formed, and antigen-antibody reactions take place. So we presume that a further study of the relationship between the ototoxicity of the antibiotics and immunology will be much meaningful to the study of ototoxic pathogenesis.
