Slowdown in heart rate and rising of arterial blood pressure were successfully induced by stimulating the nasal mucous membrane with ammonia vapour in rabbits with its respiration kept artificially and immobilized by the use of relaxant. For convenience, cardiovascular responses to ammonia is abbreviated to CVRA. In one experiment, bilateral cervical vagotomy reduced markedly the extent of the bradycardiac reaction of CVRA, while the hypertensive change of CVRA remained unaltered after the same operation. The fact indicates that in CVRA, change of the heart rate and that of blood pressure are originally on their own and resulted from a specific integration action of vagal and sympathetic systems. In another experiment, it was found that stimulation of the cent- ral end of the cervical or subdiaphragmatic vagus give rise to an inhibitory effect on CVRA. But differing from this, enhacement of CVRA could be attende with stimulatin the depressot nerve. No effects on CVRA were observed, whend the superior or recurrent laryngeal nerves were stimulated. Thus, different afferent components of vagal system are varied in relation to CVRA. As to the action of general anesthesia. It has been found that anesthetic effects on CVR A differ from that on the depressor reflex, While both the cardiac and vascular reactions in the former were weakened conspicuously under the action of urethan, only the cardiac reaction in the latter was affected. The study has led to the conclusion that different components of the vagal and sympathetic systems have different susceptibility to general anesthesia, and their substantial effects are flexible, determined by their exciting functional states.

In ansethetized rabbits arrhythmia (mainly ecotopic deats) and striking ele- vation of arterial blood pressure could be elicited during and after stimulation of mamillary nucleus of the hypothalamus and its surrounding regions by monophasic square wave trains lasted 5~10 seconds (pulse duraion: 0.5~1ms; frequency: 40~70Hz; current intensity: 100~300μA). when blood pressure was at higher levels, stimulation of hypothalamus could elicit an increased response of arrhythmia. when blood pressure was at lower levels, stimulation of hypothalamus could elicit a decreased response of arrhythmia The results showed that there was significant correlation between levels of blood pressure and arrhythmia induced by stmulation of hypothalamus.

If the tissue or organ have 3-β-hydroxy steroid dehydrogenase (3-β-HSDH), they can synthesize the steroid hormone. According to that idea, we have studied the distribution of 3-α-HSDH in the female reproductive system of rats and mice, human endometrium and decidua with histochemical techniques. The results as follows: 1. The granular lutein cells and the theca lutein cells have showed a strong positive reaction. Theca interna cells and metrial gland cells were middle positive staining in the ovary of rats and mice. 2. The glandular epithelium and the surperficial epithelium showed moderate positive reaction. 3. The glandular epithelium and the big decidual cells of human decidua were moderate positive. 4. We did not look for a positive endometrial cells in human endometrium. The present study have been idenlified that the uterus of rats and mice, and the endomitrial cpitheliums and big cells of women's decidua possessed the funetion to secrete Steroid hormones. We proposed that the uterus of rat and mice and human decidua may be a endocrine organ.

In this study 71 male Wistar rats were used and divided into experimental group and control group. In the experimental group, D-galactosamine dissolved in physiological saline was given intraperitoneally (600mg/kg). In control group, equal amount of physiological saline was given. After 1, 2, 3, 5, 7 and 10 days, specimens of the tail portion of pancreas were taken under fasted condition for 12 h. The specimens were fixed in Bouin's fixative and paraffin sections were made. The immunohistochemical PAP method was used to demonstrate insulin-containing B cells, glucagon-containing A cells and somatostatin-containing D cells. The immunoreactivity of the islet cells was estimated semiquantitatively in order to evaluate the changes of the endocrine activity of the islet cells after liver injury, and the date were analysed statistically, 1~5days after D-galactosamine injection, the liver damage was intensive and regeneration also is active. During the same time, the insulin-immunoreactivity of B ceils decreased; the glucagon-immunoreactivity of A ceils decreased even more, and reached the least at 2nd or 3rd day. On the contrary, the somatostatin-immunoreactivity of D cells increased. At the 7th day, the liver injury tended to recovery and the immunoreactivity of these 3 kinds of islet cells was similar to those of the control group. The results suggest that the changes of endocrine activity of B cell and A cell seem to be closely related to liver injury and regeneration. The changes of D cells may indicate that they exerted probably some regulation roles on the secretion activity of B cell and A cell.

The results of antitumor activity stimulated by AMC against S180 showed that the number of mice suffering from tumor was less, the development of tumor was later and the average weight of the tumor was lower in the experlmental group as compared with the controls, It indicated that AMC might be considerd as a new effective autitumor drug.

We carried out studies of rapid drug sensitivity testing of M. tuberculosis strain H37Ra with the bioluminescence method. The method was that bacteria from about three weeks old cultures of M. tuberculosis strain H37Ra on Lowenstein Jensen medium were diluted suitably and were added to 0.1 per cent Tween 80--system Sauton liquid medium (with or without antibiotics and free medium) and then incubated at 37℃ After inculation for four or five days, the amout of BL30s rlu's were determined. We can know the drug sensitivity of M. tuberculosis strain H37Ra which was estimated according to the inhibition rate of bacteria growth. The results of the seusitivity testing can be evaluated within 4 to 5 days. The method is rapid and easy to perform.

12 wistar rats were studied under electron microscope. Changes in the convoluted tubules and basal laminae of kidney were caused by large doses of calcitriol. Prominent changes electron-dense granules (calcium phosphate) and swollen mitochondria were seen. The deposit of calcium phosphate is an early phenomenon of the injury of mitochondria which is followed by swollen of mitochondria. Lamellar deposits of electron-dense fine granules along basal laminae of the tubules of kidney were slso seen. No prominent differences were seen between suckling rata and older rats in relation to the intensity of the pathologic changes and the duration of calcitriol administration.

We studied the morphological and biological character of the gametogony of mosquito stage of Plasmodium gallinaceum. The result of these experiments showed that morphology of various developmental stages in infected Aedes albopiclus Were described and measured as follows: Microgametes is filament-shaped, 23μm, one end is blunt round, the other end is slender sharp; macrogametes and zygotes is round or oral, 4~7μm, 4~4×4~6μm; mature ookinetes is banana-shaped, 18~19×3~4μm. The biological character of exflagellation of microgametocyte, fertilization of mierogametes and the formation of zygoteookinnele were observed and discribed initially.

Six cases were studied in all, and L-type staphylococcus aureus were cultured in two cases The results suggests that the possibility of L-form bacterial infection in such cases must be taken into consideration.

Based on a fearture of decrease in the electrical resistivity of metabolite with bacteria propagating in culture medium, a microprocessor controled system is designed for automatic fast-becteria-detection on electrical impedance method. The system consists of five parts, maliny: bacteria-culture tubes, digit-controled stabiliger, microprocessor, A/D and D/A converters, printer and display screen, The system can determine impedance characteristic curves with bacteria propagation by a quadruyple electrodes method Within two to three hours. These impedance curves are used to identify whether there are common bacteria in a given sample, take drug sensibility tests and so on, In addition, the time for bacteria detection can be reduced very much and the detection efficiency becomes very high.
