Abstract: The aim was to investigate the methods of reducing the incidence of eclampsia and the managements of serious complications induced by eclampsia.A retrospective review was carried out on 35 eclampsia women admitted in our hospital from Jan 1988 to Dec 2002.The results showed that the incidence of eclampsia was 0.18% in the past 15 years, which revealed a declined tendency.2 cases of maternal death, the mortality was 5.71%; 10 cases of perinatal death, the mortality was 26.32%.The results indicated that intensive routine prenatal care, diagnosis and treatment of PIH in time, and paying more attention on postpartum management could all effectively reduce the incidence of eclampsia. The attendance of other departments is very important in treating the serious complications induced by PIH and in improving the maternal and neonatal prognosis.
