NE, Gly, GABA and L-Glu were topically applied to the dorsal surface of lumbar spinal cord or iontophoretically injected into the spinal dorsal horn to observe their effects on segmental (SP) ant descending (DP) spinal field potentials on anesthetized (or conscious) and immobilized rats. In the group of topical application(TA), both waves N and P of SP and DP were seen to be reduced markedly in their amplitudes following TA of NE. A significant decrease in wave N’s magnitude and a remarkable increase in wave P’s size in both SP and DP were shown during TA of Gly, GABA and L-Glu. In the group of iontophoretical injection(II), either reduced or enhanced effect was shown during II of NE.activity of spinal interneurons and/or intraspinal terminanls of primary afferents.

The system of Anopheles stephensi and Plasmodium yoelii yoelii was used as animal model. The three kinds of isozymes (LDH; MDH;α-GPDH) of adult female mosquitoes at the different time after taking noninfected and malaria-infected blood meals Were investigated and the questions concerning metablism were discussed preliminarily.

The Plasmodium yoelii nigeriensis gametocyte carrying mice were administered intragastrically with primaquiue 1.25mg/kg and 1.95mg/kg, 8h after treatment, the number of gametocytes in the blood had been reduced to 1/2. The morphology of some gametocytes appeared abnormal. The decrease of number of ookinetes, the infective rate and infetive degree of oocysts and gland infection rate was proportional to the increase of dosage of primaquine and infection time of mosquitoes, with the vacuolation and shri nkage of some ookinetes and oocysts.

The relationships between the survival of adrenal medulla tissue after freezing and some factors were investigated. The factorsin clude freezing mediums, freezing rates, the volumes of tissue, protective agents, storing Periods and the permissible intervial from animal death to freezing. It is proved that the freezing rates, freezing mediums and protective agents are closely related with the survival of frozen-stored adrenal medulla tissue. The best result can be obtained by using amniotic fluid as freezing medium, and DMSO as protective agent for freezing, with the freezing rate of-1~-2℃per minute. This study provides the reference data for the freezing and storage of adrenal medulla tissue.

The effects of adenosine on action potential of guinea pig atrium at different concentrations and temperatures were observed with microelectrode technique, At 21℃, the effects of adrenargic receptors blockers as phenoxybenzamine phentolamine and propranolol on adenosine etion were researched. hTe results suggest that the effects of adenosine aon action potential of at rium muscle is concentration and temperature-dependent. Propranolol partly but phentolamine and phenoxybenzamine completely block adenosine effects. It is suggested that adenosine and catecholamine share certain common receptors but perform different functions respectively.

The study has been carried out using low power density, 514.5nm argon-ion-laser in 17 different doses to irradiate 192 rats which were divided into two groups with 384 skin wounds in different seasons. Observations showed that the average healing time and healing speed have something to do with doses and days of the laser irradiation. And it was also observed that if the wounds were hurt once again before its healing, the new wounds would have a retarding effect. The initial resuit indicated that the low power density argon-ion-laser (514.5nm) could have a promotive effect on healing skin wounds.

The standard sex-linked recessive lethal test was used to test whether compounds induce lethal mutations in male germ cells of Drosophila. The present paper deals with study on the mutagenic potontial of SF-Xiaoxiling in Drosophila. The Drosophila melanogaster stocksused were the Oregon K males wild type and Base females. Oregon K males. Iday old were treaed with test agenis and maied to Base virgin females, 2~4 days old. Statistical significance tests were based on the tables of Kastenbaum and Bowman. The results showed that no significant enhancement of mutation frequency was observed when flies were fed on SF-Xiaoxiling 4g/L, 6g/L and 8g/L selution. This study shows that SF-Xiaoxiling is without mutagenicity.

The variation of DA, NE, 5-HT and 5-HIAA in CSF was observed on 10 patients suffering from Parkinson's disease after auto-transplantation of adrenal mellula. It was found that while the patients’ objective symptoms were relieved, the contents of DA in (SF increased significantly at the 2nd, 4th, 6th and 8th week, excepling for the first week after operation. The results suggest that the operation may raise the content of DA in CSF, which is thought to be involved in the pathogenesis of Parkinson’s disease. There are no considerable alterations in the contents of NE, 5-HT and 5-HIAA, however, it doesn’t imply that there is no relationship between these substances and Parkinson’s disease.

The question of whether the age, age of onset, disease duration and severity of motor symptoms in idiopathic Parkinson’s disease(PD)is selated with the degree of intellectual deficits is still controversial. This issue was examined in a study of 31 consecutive patients with PD, utilizing quantitative clinical measures and standardized Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale revised in China (WAIS-RC). Significant correlations were found between the severity of bradykinesia and the impaired performance on WAIS test However the degree of obvious tremor was inverselg correlated with the intellectual scores. The age, age of onset and severity of rigidity were not significantly correlated to intellectual impairments. These results suggest that the intellectual deficits may result from the same subcortical lesion that cause bradykinesia and that PD with predominant tremor could be an early symptom aor subt ypeof Parkinson’s disease with relatively intact intellectual function.

Serum HCG was determined by RIA in 50 normal women, 75 early pregnancy, 62 middle pregnancy, 69 ectopic pregnancy, 9 dead fetal pregnancy, 15 hydatidiform mole, 2 chorioepithelioma and 4 embroy carcinoma of testis. The numerical values were 24~32, 32 569~61 263, 14 873~25 562, 1 917~3 607, 902~2 916, 119 234~505 359 IU/L (95% Fiducial limits) respectively. There was a great significance between each two groups statisticly(p<0.01) except between ectopic pregnacy and dead fetal pregnacy groups(p<0.05). The change of serum HCG was also analyzed druing treatment in chorioepithelioma, hydatidiform mole and embryoearcinoma of testis. The study indicates that serun HCG and sis could be useful for the diagnosis, differential diagnosis and assessment of therapeutic effect these diseases.

Proteins contained in the serum and subretinal fluid(SRF) from patients of retinal detachment with and without high myopia were analysed by vertical eletrophoresis using marker proteins. It was found that the serum proteins and their molecular weights in retinal detachment patients were essentially the same as those of the normal individual, the molecular weights being between 19.8×10~3u and 93.3×10~3u dalton in both cases But the contents and the molecular weight of the SRF protein increased as the course of the disease was prolonged, and in patients of over 2 months’ duration. Both these parameters became approximately the same as those of their own serum.
