The Projections from the Central Cervical Nucleus to the Cerebellum with the Method of Autoradiography in the Rabbits

The experiment is to trace the projection from the central cervical nucleus(CCN)to the cerebellum in the rabbits with the method of autoradiography anterogradely.Injections of ³H-leucine were made into the region of the CCN in the C₂ segment of the spinal cord in 6 rabbits.Observations were made on the labelled fibers and the terminal distributions within the cerebellum after autoradiographic procedures. In the cerebellum,labelled mossy fiber terminals were found bilaterally but a more proportion in the side contralateral to the injection site,concentrated from lobuleⅠtoⅣand longitudinal distribution paralelled to the midline and also in average from the depth to the superficial parts of the different folia.In addition,a less number of terminals were found in the lobules Ⅷ_b,Ⅸ_a of the vermis zone and paramedian lobe.The labelled silver grains were also found in the brainstem and cerebellar superior peduncle on the contralateral side. The findings suggest that the fibers of CCN in the rabbits project to the cerebellum directly.The result implies that the CCNmay convey the input from the skin of the neck region and proprioceptive input from tendons,ligaments and joints.

A Biouminescence method was established for quantification of adhesion of Pseudomonas aeruginosa to polystyrene,some factors influencing the method were observed and the ratio o0f P.aeruginosa strains were compared by the established method.The results showed: 1,In bioluminescence reaction,there was a dose-dependent relationship between the amonnt of ATP of P.aeruginosa and the intensity of bioluminescence in the given concentration of luciferin/luciferase;2, In the adherent system of P.aeruginosa,the amount of the adherence of P.aeruginosa to polystyrenc increased with the amount of the bacteria and prolongation of incubation time and was affected by pH of PBS,the age of P.aeruginosa;3,The adherence ratio of P.aeruginosa was significantly different among different P.aeruginosa strains.

A model of the adherence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa to chick skins is described.The skins which were separated from the dorsal part of the embryo were cut up into pieces about 20mm² and placed in petri-dishes for adherence studies.Adherence was quantification by direct count of the number of bacteria attached to a fixed surface area as viewed by scanning electron microscopy.Optimal condition for study were 1 h of incubation with an inoculum of 10⁷-10⁸CFU/ml.Under this condition,the slime strains adhered to the skins 10 fold better than the nonslime strains.Heat and formalin treated P.aeruginosa strains did not adhere to the skins,and antiserum against P.aerugiosa can inhibit adherence.Bacteria species such as E.coli,Klebsiella pneu-moniae,and Proteus mirabilis adhered poorly to the skins in this system. This model should be useful in studying the reaction of bacteria with the skins of burn patients.

The Beijing duck contains much fat which makes up 40% of the body weight and the content of cleavage products produced by irradiation is related to the amount of fat.In order to insure the safety of food,the 90-day feeding test was performed on weanling Wistar rats by feeding meat and fat of the frozen duck irradiated with ⁶⁰Coγ-ray of 2500 Gray,and chromosome aberration of mice and rats were analyzed. The results showed that there was no significant difference in appearance and behavior between the rats fed meat and fat of irrad- iated frozen duck and the controls;there was also no statistically significant difference in the rate of growth and development,coefficient of diet utilization,blood routine test and biochemistry,viscera w./body w.ratio and pathological examination of viscera compared with the controls;and also no statistically significant difference in the analysis of chromosome aberration of the rat bone marrow and the mice testes between the experimental group and the control group.Our study indicates that no ill-effects of the irradiated frozen duck can be found on the experimental animals.

The antioxidant Dmainly containing N-phenyl-2-naphthyl-amine was a pollutant of the rubber industry,In this paper the influences of antioxidant Don drug-metabolizing enzymes of the liver and the lungs of the rat were studied.The results indicated that the antioxi-dant Ddecreased the mouse sleep time induced by pentobarbital sodium and increased the organ coefficient,the content of the hepatic microso- mal cytochrome P-450,the activities of the NADPH-Cytochrome Creductase of the hepatic microsome,GSH S-transferase of the liver S₉ and benzopyrene hydroxylase,ethylmorphine demethylase,p-nitroani- sole demethylase of the liver and the lungs.The antioxidant Dcould stimulate proliferation of smooth endoplasmatic reticulum of the liver cells and the lung cells.

Administration of 10% Apocynum extract by iv.(2.0mL/kg,3.6mL/min) induced the significant reduction of BP(22.3%)which continued more than₇ minutes and related with a reduction of H.R.(r=0.83)and continued more than 30 min.The CO,CI,SI,LCF were decreased while decreasing blood pressure.The decrease of myocardic O₂ consumption were observed within 3 minutes after Apocynum extract administration.

A flame atomic absorption spectrometry method for the determination of micro-amounts beryllium in serum is described.The effect on the measurement from various elements in serum was studied.The Ca²⁺is a interference factor to the beryllium measurement.This factor can be dispelled by protein and other organic compounds in the serum. Sensitivity of this method is 0.026 μg/mL/0.1%,limitation of detection is 0.019μg/mL.

The diameters of“a”wave of expiration of 140 normal subjects were recorded by M-mode echocardiography at the distal portion of IVCD.The normal range is 19.56±3.13mm in the group of age 20-59; 11.29±2.12mm/m² in the group of age 7-19.The normal range of the hepatic vein diameter(HVD)was measured at expiration and systole is 6.69±1.64mm in the group of age 20-59;4.35±1.07mm/m² in the group of age 7-19.In patients with heart failure,tricuspid regurtation (TR)and septal defect(SD).The mean value of HVD is significantly different from the normal.The backflow of tracing are presented in the hepatic vein of 97.7% of normal subjects.The peaks of the backflow were applied for the TRand ASD diagnosis.

The fine structure of micromegakaryocytes were observed under electron microscope in blood and/or bone marrow specimens in six patients with myeloproliferative disorder.Abnormal ultrastructures of the micromegaka-ryocytes were studied.The 3 main morphological charactersties of megaka-ryocte,as the α-granules,demarcation membrane and the special shape of pseudopia,may serve as important distinguishing characteristies in the classification of micro-megakaryoctes.Five types of abnormal micromegaka-ryocytes could be seen under electron microscope.

The study of 72 cases of primary tumors of the small bowel is reported in this paper.Among them,21(29.2%)are benign and 51(70.8%)are maligmant.In the 72 cases of the small bowel the lesion occurred in duodenum in 26 cases,in jejunum in 24 cases, in ileum in 22 cases.21 cases of benign tumor are follows:leiomyoma (7/21),lipoma(6/21),neurofibroma(3/21),adenoma(2/21), hemangioma(1/21),fibroma(1/21)and harmatoma(1/21),51 cases of malignamt tumor are as follows:adenocareinoma(22/51),non- Hodgkin's lymphoma(16/51),leiomyosarcoma(8/51),Hod gkin's disease(2/51),neurofibro-sarcoma(1/51),carcinoid(1/51)and duodenal ulcer with maligmant change(1/51),metastasis are frequent in most cases(46.7%). The 5 year postoperated survival rate in 25 cases was 13.7%.

We studied 139 cases were taking aspirin due to increased platelet aggregation.89 were males and 50 were females.They were divided into four groups(0,50mg,300mg,500mg,daily)with double-blind method.Platelet aggregation test was performed before and after taking aspirin.Clinical trials demonstrated that therels the benefit of aspirin in males and females.The most optimum dosage of aspirin is 50mg daily.

The clinical informations in 318 cases of traumatic maxillo-facial fracture were analized,depending on sex,age,occupation,position of the injury,nature of trauma,type of the wound,complications, fixed ways and results of treatment.Male were more and about 79.87%.Workers were 41.50% in total.164 cases were the fracture of mandibular body.53 cases were the combined maxillary and mandibular fracture.104 cases were bumped in nature.110 cases were industrial accident and 104 were traffic single fracture was 44.97% and splintered fracture was 23.58%,226 cases of 318 fracture associated with cranial trauma.185 cases suffered from severe cranial trauma with tracheotomy.Eight kinds of fixed way were concluded practically.The results of treatment were divided into three grades.First and second grades were 98.43%.5 were failed and 5 died from severe cranial trauma.

This study consist of 578 cases of transcervical chorionic villi sampies(CVS)during early pregnancy for observation of short-term safety. This paper is presented by“The Diagnosis of Early Pregnancy Coordination Group of Beijing”during March to October 1985. Most of the CVS were taken between 6～8 weeks of gestation.The succesful rate was 79.4%.All cases were observed and followed for 1～2 weeks.Fetal loss rate was 4.7%.Post-biopsy complication consisted of uterine bleeding,perforation embryonic sac,spontaneous abortion, ceased growth embryo and genital infection of mother.Induced abortion were performed in 568 cases.Another 10 cases continued their pregnancy. In 97 cases,examination of intrauterine microorganism were done ofter chorionic villi samples,among them,anaerobic bacterial growth were isolated in 7 cases.They were considered to be non-pathogenic organisms of female genital.
