    Responses of Spinal Ganglion Neurons to Electrical Stimulation of Somatic and/or Visceral Nerve

    One hundred and eighty two neurons were recorded from S1 spinal ganglion in 30 rats.Of them, 74 neurons responded to stimulation of both pudendal(Pu)and pelvic(Pe)nerve.Conduction velocity of action potentials induced by Pu stimulation (38.07 m/s) was significantly faster than that of Pe stimulation induced ones (21.84 m/s).The action potentials evoked by Pu and Pe stimulation could be collided each another.These results indicate that somatic and visceral input may converge on single type A spinal ganglion neurons via dichotomizing primary afferents.

    By means of the loss-of-resistance guidance method, insulated pin-electrodes were inserted into the epidural space through intervertebral puncture for segmental spinal cord stimulation and recording.Typical spinal field potential could be recorded from the epidural space of the lumbar enlargement.which was similar to the field potential recorded from the dorsai surface of the spinal cord directly by silver ball electrode.The result indicates that the method for recording spinal cord field potential by insulated pin electrode through intervertebral puncture can not only be applied to man and big animals but also to small animals like rat.

    CFG image analysis system digitizes a image coming from a video camera then to show this image on a video monitor.It can make multiple quantitative analysis to image structure.In our experiment,first,the myocardial ischemia model is completed,making the immunohistochemical staining of creatine kinase on pathological sections, then to measure the red,green and blue color data of every pixels of these section with CFG image analysis system.The results showed that the color data is prominent lower than that normal after 1 hour ischemia;the decreased degree of color data is marked accompanying by the increased ischemic time;the area of color data decrease become larger accompanying by the increased ischimic time.CFG image analysis has advantages of rapid and precise.

    The inbred SD rats with normal estrogenic cycle were made to swim.When their estrogenic cycles were restrained, two ovaries were ectomized, fixed by formalin, imbedded with paraffin,and siained by HE.We studied the changes of growth of follicle and development of corpus luteum.The result showed whose estrogenic cycle were restrained,the percentage of newly formed corpus lutuem to the total number was lower than those with normal estrogenic cycles (P<0.05),while the percentage of graffin follicles to total follicles was approximatedly the same(P>0.05).It is indicated that swimming had no obvious effect on development of follicle.A decline of the numbers of corpus lutuem suggest that the function of ovulation was inhibited.

    The mutagenicity of urine from humans exposed to the combustion products of liquefied petroleum gas(LPG)was detected with Salmonella typhimurium TA98 and its new derivatives YG1021 and YG1024.The samples showed evident mutagenicity in thepresence of both rat liver S9 and β-glucuronidase.The mutagenicity in YG1024 was significantly higher than that in TA98.The mutagenicity in YG1021,however,was similar to TA98 under the same conditions.This suggests that the mutagenic compounds presented in the urine samples are mainly aromatic amino compounds as glucuronide conjugates.The results also demonstrate that YG1024 is more sensitive than TA98 in detecting the mutagenicity of these samples.

    By means of histochemical method, a comparative study on the effects of albendazole (Alb) and mebendazole(Meb)on histochemical changes of Cysticercus cellulosae in vitro after exposure to a dosage of 100 mg/L culture medium for 72 h was carried out.The experi ment enclosed three groups:Control group,Alb treated group and Meb treated group.The results showed that the contents of glycogen in tissues of the parasites in the groups treated with Alb or Meb were decreased obviously.The activities of succinate dehydrogenase and adenosine triphosphatase were declined apparently in two drug groups and more markedly in the Alb group than the Meb group.The activity of acid phosphatase was decreased slightly in the two drug treated groups, whereas the activity of alkaline phosphatase did not show apparently changes in the two drug treated groups.

    The antiplatelet effect of alcoholic extract of Piper hancei(PHE)was studied.It was shown that PHE inhibited rabbit platelet aggregation induced by platelet activating factor (PAF)and arachidonic acid(AA) either in vitro or ex vivo.The IC50of PHE for PAF-induced platelet aggregation and for that of AA(in vitro)were 40.34 mg/L and 345.46 mg/L respectively.After iv of PHE (30 mg/kg),the maximum inhibitory rate for PAFinduced platelet aggregation and for that of AA(ex vivo)were 82.75% and 33.34% respectively;the duration of inhibitory effect for PAF-induced platelet aggregation and or that of AA were 60 min and 30 min respectively.PHE may exhibit certain selective anti-PAF activity.

    Low density lipoprotein(LDL)was oxidized with Cu2+ in vitro.A lag phase was followed by oxidave modification after addition of CuCl2, and about 15 h,the reaction reach a peak.LDL oxidation was continuously monitored spectrophotometrically at 234 nm to follow the formation of conjugated dienes.Three phases were found in oxidation curve:Lag phase, propagation phase and decomposition phase.By determinating thiobarbituric acid reaction substances(TBARS),we found the lipid peroxidation increased as much as 15 times in LDL.

    Animal model for biliary cirrbosis has been obtained by ligating the common bile duct of Wistar rats.The pathologic and ultrapathologic changes of liver were studied in rats whose common bile duct had been irrevesibly ligated for 1~86 days by light and electron microscopy.The pathogenesis of liver fibrosis and nodular formation of experimental biliary cir rhosis was disussed.Cholestasis after the ligation of common bile duct led to the damage of hepatocytes,necrosis and stimulating the proliferation of ductuloid epithelial cells,the latter undergone differentiation and transformation,and most of them formed bile ductules and a few of them formed nodules of hepatocytes.The ductuloid and ductular epithelial cells have the ability for synthesizing collagens.The liver lobules were surrounded and separated by connective tissue septa which were cqmposed of proliferated bile ductules,fibroblasts,phagocytes, blood capilarys and proliferaled collagen fibers,and then pseudolobules were formed.Finally, the liver cirrhosis developped.

    Selective coronary angiography(SCA)is very accurate diagnostic method for coronary heart disease.To evaluate the safety of SCA.Severe complications of 373 patients with SCA were analysed.Ventricular tachycardia/ventricular fibrillation 6 cases, acute myocardial infarction 2 patients ,arterial thrombus 2 cases,location hematoma 26 cases,arterial dissection 1 case.To reduce the complication of SCA,we must abide the rule as follows:1.To understand the patient’s information;2.to abide by operation precedures;3.to observe closely the changes of aorta arterial presure and electrocardiogram during SCA; 4.to shorten the operation time of SCA.

    The pulmonary circulatory functions were investigated in 60 patients with acute myocardial infarction(AMI)by right chest electro-admittance technique.The result showed that in left ventricular failure group(Killip Ⅱ、Ⅲ、Ⅳ grade)the Q-j (PEP) prolonged.j-z(RVET)shortened, Q-j/j-z (RSTI)and, hc/hz (preload) increased sighificantly as compared with those in normal group (P<0.01).The abnormality rate of left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and RSTI detected by M-type ultrasonic cardiography are definitly higher than normal group(t=2.81, P<0.01).The study suggested that pulmonary circuiatory function technique is useful to assess the status of cardiac function of AMI patient sensitively.

    In order to assese the relationship between HP infection and gastric carcinoma, we detected the presence of HP with culture and examinated the level of HP serum antibodies(ELISA)in 73 gastric cancer patients and 73 controls matched for age and sex.Patients and controls were selected on referral for gastroscopy.It was showed that the prevalence of HP infection in gastric cancer patients was 58.9% and 53.42% in controls.the high levels of serum antibodies were found in 67.12% of cases and 57.53% of controls.These differences are not statistically significant.Tumor histology and site had no effect on the presence of HP.We conclude that gastric cancer is a multifactorial disease.HP infection is neither only nor necessary for gastric carcino-genesis.Somefactors may cause gastric malignancy with or based on some special HP strain infections.

    Triptonide (Tri)extracted from Tripterygium wilfordii Hook inhibited the proliferation of mouse splenocytes induced by suboptimal concentration of concanavalin A or Lipoplysaccharide at concentrations of 0.02, 0.10,and 0.50 mg/L.Although allergic contact dermatitis to dinitrofluorobenzene (DNFB) was inhibited by Tri 1.0, 2.0,and 5.0 mg/kg(ip,qd×5d),the splenocyte interleukin-2 secretion activity of these mouse was not suppressed.The data indicates that Tri has suppressive effects on mouse immune functions and may be used as a potent immunosppressive agents.
